I see your point. The fact that we won every season series for 16 straight years before last year isn't all that relevant.

Elliott and Wideman (frank)ed up all over the place against you guys. Smith and Hamonic replacing those two should adjust the objective fan's opinion a bit.

Re: Trevy: Lazar should be pinned to the 4th line and only see time on the 3rd if he's putting away Tkachuk and Bennett's garbage around the net on the RW. Just my opinion.

Let's see how he does in the preseason. He is a big question mark. No big expectations.

Ottawa thought enough of him to put him in their lineup for 180 games so there must be some talent there. Perhaps he just needs a change of scenery to get going. At 22, and having made the NHL as a 19 year old, to say he isn't NHL caliber is stupid.

39 points in 180 games. stupid? lol. he lacks skill, he has no hands, no finish, less than average skater. the 180 games is because he was a first rounder with high expectations like i said. Read and think before you post

I just hope he actually earns his spot on the team. Would suck to see better players waiting on the outside while we try to reclaim a sub-par bottom six asset.

Why would we?
- TandA4Flames

Why?

1. We ranked 20th in the league in face off percentage last year. Duchene has the best face off percentage in the league.
2. Everyone always says “Give Bennett a good players to play with than see what he could do.” (this is obliviously assuming Bennett shifts to left wing and is not involved in the trade)
3. No guarantees the Backlund will be returning. BT would surly have an idea of what Backs wants and the way inflation is going it might be cheaper to roll with Duchene.
4. Honestly I’m not a GM but I won’t be surprised one bit if the return ends up being far less than what has been consistently reported. There’s talks he might not be report to camp now and the last article I seen had Sakic saying it’s been very quiet. Apparently Duchene’s agent is putting lots of pressure to get something done before camps begin. Duchene could easily walk at the end of next year. All these factors lead me to believe that Sakic will not be receiving the kinns ransom hes been asking for.

My Offer, Oliver Kylington and John Gillies and Dillon Dube.

Well if I Took what Flames fans said as the gospel you just traded Eric Karrlson and Carey Price for Matt Douchene.

Oh, so he didn't actually make the Sens, they gifted him a spot for 180 games ? If the Sens had better options they would have used them. Not too bright are ya ?

Maybe you guys should listen to Sens fan who watched him play? Its far more likely that Lazar just sucks than Ottawa was a bad fit. Think about it.

Agreed. Hopefully he put his work in this summer and gets his foot speed on track. Needs to bring something or we should just suck it up and risk sending him down.

You guys have a really good and fun team to watch. I think 3rd place in the Pacific is yours to lose, but I believe Mike Smith is your X-factor here.

It's so hard to gauge what he can bring after playing behind that terrible team in AZ. Your defense has upgraded, so maybe he can not face a sh*t storm every night and remain stable.

I think Smith was the only questionable move you guys made this off-season.

Yeah if things don't work out it will be a painful year. The goaltending pipeline is looking good but if we get to the point that we have to rely on that this year we are in big trouble.

Part of me thought keeping CJ around would have been better than Lack.

Lack is a weird case. He's had some bad luck injury-wise as of late, but I think he's a very underrated goalie when healthy. I agree though, CJ would have been better to keep around.

You guys should have made a stronger push for MAF

1st given our lack of picks over the next few years, trading those 3 guys kills our depth. 2nd without trading any of our big club guys, we can't afford to fit Duchene's $6 mil contract in our cap. 3rd Duchene's contract being up soon does not save us more than just going with him over Backlund. He'll cost way more to resign than Backs will. Not to mention the acquisition cost.

Flames will be interesting this year. Nothing would be sweeter than Calgary going further than Edmonton and Toronto.

Bring on the Battle of Alberta! With both teams trending upwards, I see the rivalry becoming great again! Much like the Flames Canucks of the past decade! It took the Oilers that long and 4 first overalls to become relevant again!

Yeah they have a damn good team. Its shaping up like the old BOA where we will be the underdogs. Which I am fine with.

Both teams have some question marks, both teams have a bright future. But I love how they are coming here talking poop. It will be all the more pleasurable if we get to spoon feed it back to them.
