If you take out assists completely Monahan still dominates
he has 107 goals, next highest in those comparables is 75
As they say, goals are the hardest to come by, if there is a 2% corsi reduction but the guy can plain score, that trumps period

Also worth considering that Monahan has been joined at the hip with one of the games best wingers for 75% of his career. It's part of the reason as to why you wouldn't be wrong to argue against Draisaitl's inclusion as his greatest success' have come being "zoomed" by an elite linemate (as well as playing on the wing, in Leon's case).
Mackinnon has had talent in Duchene and Landeskog around, but neither are on the same level of elite as a guy like Gaudreau.
Barkov has had an oft-injured Huberdeau and a 40+ year-old Jagr to his flanks and yet again, neither are of Gaudreau's calibre. He's also dealt with his fair share of injuries that have seen his numbers take a hit when they'd otherwise be very close.
Wennberg is a more difficult case to argue due to limit of sample size and whatnot. While it's fair to include him in the conversation, I don't see how he beats out Monahan.
As for the bolded, it's a question of whether or not he's the reason for the goal scoring or whether it's more a byproduct of being paired with such an elite winger. With most other inclusions on the lists, you can see evidence that those players are the best players on their lines (if not their whole teams) and thus are "driving" their production. This isn't the case for Monahan. That's not to say he doesn't have a place in these conversations but it's a hit against him- especially after he struggled so much when Johnny was out last year.
