Chicago already has.

They may have a year left in the tank but they're toast.

- BINGO!

Agreed. Their core players keep getting older. I think they still have 2 or 3 years left, but then they're bottom dwellers again.

Yeah I do think that their success will taper off at whatever rate Hank's game declines at. I won't say they're on the verge of any sort of "collapse" because it's a desirable place for guys to play and they can build outside of just homegrown talent, in some capacity.

But with Skjei's permanent-graduation to the big club, I feel wholly comfortable saying that their prospect pool lacks any sort of (probable) game-changing talent. Andersson could be a player, but that remains to be seen. There is good depth spread around in their pipeline, but they lack any sort of high-end skill.

True, but like you said, UFA's want to play there. They can sign high-end skill to supplement what's not in the pipeline.

Not really sure, I think they will be middle of the pack team, could be slightly worse, could be slightly better.

Really going to depend on Zibanejad/Hayes as the 1/2, Vesey and Buch getting better.
Think the defense is a little better, with the exception of Staal.

- mdw7413

Think Shattenkirk instead of Girardi is going to be huge.

But not having Stepan is going to hurt a lot more than most think too.

I dunno. I see them being the same or slightly better than last year, as long as the King holds up.

Yeah. Its going to be interesting.

You follow some of these young guys Bingo. What are your thoughts on DeAngelo? Think he can actually stick around? He obviously knows how to play offense.

these are the comments made by Isles fans that crack me up. they just lost their starting first line Center and one of their top 4 D-men b/c they had to make some cap room. They lose scoring and depth every year and replace it with kids. We have only lost to them once in the last 2 1/2 years. They are a top 5 goalie away from being the worst team in the Metro.. but they are better than the Isles and are better run that the isles?

Vesey went there b/c he knew he would get to play. That is the same reason Kerfoot should go there... They have no depth. Their young talent last year was a 3rd round pick that is a head case. ... A lot of teams are Better and run better than the isles. The Rangers are not one of them.

He's got the talent, that's for sure.

Think it's more a matter if AV trusts him enough. If AV let's him off the leash, he can be real effective. He can definitely play, but will Vignault let him?

Probably going to be between Holden and DeAngelo. Shattenkirk and Smith are obvious locks.

Remember all the Vessey talk? The hopes that some people were having and talking about. The Rags are a better team & better run than the Isles. What did Vessey do? Not a whole lot.

- Isleshockeyman

im with you. for starters most of these college players are 21-24yrs old and they label them rookies. compared to a 18-19 NHL drafted rookie.

remember that kid from bellmore defensement that rangers paid for. where is he now? i think alot of those players have limited upside.

its nice to have depth but i can assure most of these college players dont have much upside as our other prospects.

Playoffs don't matter, we beat them head to head .....idiot
- Upstate_isles

Cups matter... idiot. They have had arguably the best goaltender in the league for 10 years. They have given up all their prospects, picks, and future to win the cup. they have not won sht and you dopes crown them as the class of the league.

Penguins, hawks, Kings,... these are teams run well that have had success. The Rangers have not won a friggin thing.

we have been in the playoffs 3 of the last 4 years. Made the second round a year ago and missed by one point last year. Anyone Care? No... win cups. Even Boston could be considered Run better than the Rangers even though they traded everyone away.

In the past 5 years they have been to the Stanley Cup final and the EC final twice. Not to mention they have made the playoffs 6 years in a row, failing to advance past the first round only twice. You don't have to think they're the best-run team in the league, but you really don't have a leg to stand on in saying that they are poorly run.
- eichiefs9

They were in the final 5 years ago.. then they were in the semi final.. and lost. They traded EVERYTHING for those 2 runs and lost. a year ago they were bounced in the first round.. last year the second round. stop swinging from their sac.. they are much worse off then about 50% of the teams in this league.

Rank teams in the NHL that you would love to have... I am guessing u get to at least 20 before you consider the Rangers. Nash? Staal? and a 35 year old Henrik making 9 mill for the next 5 years. Yeah... great plan. good luck.

And no Vesey's cap hit is 925k.

You keep being you.

- mdw7413

925k is his Salary.. his cap hit is 3.775 mill.

http://nhlnumbers.com/teams/NYR?year=2018 he signed a 2 year 7.5 mill contract with incentives.

im not worried about Wade Redden, i mean Shattenkirk on rangers. Expect similar type return on that. St louis blues arent stupid when they traded him. As a capital Shattenkirk was invisible on most nights

This is a results industry and every team wants to make the POs for obvious reasons. Thats goal #1. Then they want to make the POs consistently and build from there and go further and further, with of course the ultimate goal of winning the cup. Only 1 team wins The Cup and this is not as easy as you make it seem, ask The Caps, The Sharks, Blues, Canucks Etc. and obviously the Rags.

When you have a core together that you feel can win you keep them together and that forces your hand on long term contracts etc. thats what the rags have done and with success. They didn't reach the ultimate goal but they sure as hell go for it at every opportunity when it makes sense. I hate the Rags but they are a well run and very player desirable location year after year.

Mentioning the Islanders as a well run and successful organization based on their last 20 years is delusional. Honestly they can't even be mentioned in the same sentence as The Rags. Sorry I love the team and am a hard core fan but its just reality.
