Sending them to Canada is a pretty weird move...

Weirder/dumber things have happened... Trump being president may be one of them.

If Hudon can't definitively outplay Hemsky, McCarron, De La Rose, and Martinsen, do we really want him on the club?

I think we saw enough of Martinsen and De La Rose. Hudon is the best forward prospect on their farm team the last two years and they had him play a whooping 6 games in two seasons. I think he needs a fair tryout on the team before anybody tosses him on the side.

I expect him to be claimed on waivers when he's sent down after training camp (where he'll probably get injured).

I'd start the year with a Hudon-Mitchell-Shaw 4th line...

I just mean that if Hudon is as good as people think he is, then there should be little concern with guys like Hemsky or Byron starting the season higher than him on the depth chart... Also, he'd have had his shot last two years but he's always injured when the time comes to call up a player.

Who else moves down the lineup for him to move up?

Byron? Hemsky?

usually teams who pay top guys 8-9-10M don't have 3rd liner making 4M

The prices are going up for everybody.

Bonino, Nick NAS Center 4.100 M.

Just signed his deal. He's a third liner.

exactly,
NAS, unlike PIT and CHI, can afford to pay 4M for Bonino (or Shaw)

They have Subban and Johansen.

Anyway, mtl has like 8 to 9millions in cap space and most likely won't spend it to start the year.

unless they trade 3 1st round pick, I don't see how they could.
they don't have much to trade for a 8M player.

Pittsburgh is paying Carl Hagelin $4M

Looks like Hanzal will be 3C in Dallas and he's making $4.75M

Also, Hagelin is a winger.
