Not so sure Uncle Lou and Shanny brought Marleau here at $6 plus million to play on the 3rd or fourth line. Hyman nice guy sure, will be ok on PK and 3rd or 4th line. You are dreaming if you think Matthews will be less than $10 million a year. He will be among the goal scoring leaders I would expect among the point scoring leaders. 60 players in the NHL averaged more icetime than Matthews. If he gets bumped up to the 21 minutes a game like McDavid, (from his 17 minutes last season) point totals should imrove if stays healthy.

One wonders if they might even blow it up to something insane to balance scoring (taking out potential chemistry). Might compensate in situations where teams try to line match. Kadri was getting the hardest comp, but teams will now be actively going straight at Matthews/Nylander. Marleau is pretty decent in his own end himself, then you add Marner to increase the offensive capabilities of the line.

Komarov has more offensive abilty than Hyman for sure. Decent shot, your suggested 2nd line would be great. And this is all presuming there are no trades involving any of the above. Kapanen and Leivo could step in.

Totally agree! Hoping he gets a look with the big club at some point this year though. And hopefully his offense translates to the NHL.

I don't think he's playing with the Marlies this year, he is playing back in Sweden in the preseason.

It really is more about McDavid if he signs for 12.5 what is Matthews worth? 11.5?
