Homesickness cant be cured unless youre away from home, you never learn to deal with it. As long as he is back in Russia and his hometown team employs him, I think he will continue to remain in KHL. If the team folds or he gets traded over there, I think the chances increase, but as long as he remains there his bond/reliance on family will get stronger and more difficult to leave again

100% agreed. He won't be back in the NHL as long as a KHL team offers him any form of salary. The dude had the size/speed/skillset to play in todays NHL, but chose to return home. This fanbase and team might as well start forgetting about him.

I think this is an oversimplification of winning and losing at the draft table. IMO if Pettersson turns out to be a number one center then you've made an excellent pick. A team wins Stanley Cups, not a single player.

Wow factor versus results,(championships),to not over simplify.

And they asked him to play a completely different way in the form of a player from a different hockey era.

Sucks he left, but an unhappy player is not good for a team. Best to cut your losses.

How do you guys feel your rebuild is coming? Seems like you are stocking the cupboards pretty well!

The players around him will be better. Counted on for more then just offence. Versitility. At the summer showcase and canucks camp, he showed great two way game. Getting in passing lanes. Backchecking. I think he has a more well rounded game then Glass does and ever will. With some increased size and power, he will be hard to knock off the puck.

I don't know how you can tell this, but, ok

Too early to tell. The results will be the same another two years at least.

Botch says you've gotta move heaven and earth to land a guy like Tavares if he becomes a UFA next summer.....seven years 10 to 12 million per. Ok I added the last part

I still think the chances he returns increases if he changes KHL teams. He was born in Yekaterinburg and plays for Yekaterinburg, so he hasn't left town. If he was traded to St. Petersberg, Moscow, or Sochi he'd start to learn to cope with the distance and might feel more comfortable about a return.

I think its all unlikely he returns, but if homesick is the reason I'd give him a better chance if he moved away

Isnt he the guy that spent all season complaining about how the team wasnt tanking properly?

if you are 6'7, 240 pounds, you should learn to play in a way that not only the coach tells you to, but in a way that will set you up for success. The league has become more skilled/faster and the hulking/slow/enforcer has pretty much been eliminated from today's game.

Umm when I watch sports, I sort of miss the flash and look for the little things.

I agree, but hard to teach aggression to a guy that has none. Kinda like trying to teach a golden retriever to be an attack dog. But for millions of $ you would think he would try.

ok....but I'd guess you've never watched a single game start to finish of Pettersson let alone multiple games. I think they'll both be good NHL players, Pettersson looks to be more skilled so hopefully that can translate into the NHL.

I apologize ahead of time if my assumptions are incorrect.

size and weight doesn't even have to equal aggression and physical dominance (as shown with Tryamkin). I think the Canucks just wanted him to utilize his assets more, as not a lot of D-men in the league have the attributes that Tryamkin had.

Yeah I will take your word. I can't say that I know how they tried to use him or what they expected out of him. Couple games I saw he looked like he had the abilities but was timid. Could be something as simple as not wanting to make mistakes. Tough when the language barrier is there,

I am bored at work and the Flames thread is dead so today its Canuckbuzz. I promise to play nice.

I really don't need to watch an entire game. A 5 minutes highlight package will show you.

No one is going to come out and say it. It was something they "supposedly" did, as I mentioned.

sbisa was more physically dominant all season than Tryamkin was lol. Tryamkin hesitantly fought Jamie Benn while keeping one glove on and the fanbase thought he was the greatest thing ever. Tryamkin shattered Richardson's leg and the fanbase thought he was the hulk, meanwhile he lowered his head on the bench in guilt and forgot how to hit for the next 10 games. I liked Tryamkin as a player, but found myself more frustrated by his play than I was happy with it. Remember though, Canuck fans love players for their quirks, personalities, and studders than they often do their productivity or skillset.

when you use the word "supposedly", and post no proof/links, you lose all credibility. I need facts man, otherwise its speculation, and that accounts for nothing.
