all fancy stats are inadequate on their own. Each tool is like one piece to the puzzle. You get a better understanding of the picture(player) when you add more pieces to it.

For example, if you gave 10 different adv stats guys risto's heat map in the defensive zone, you'd end up with a handful of different conclusions. Some will say that there's too much shot volume coming in, others would say that the location of this shot volume (mostly to the outside) is more valuable than the total volume being allowed.

I have always said, you don't need to look at advanced stats for the great players in the league. There is no debate with them.

Advanced stats greatest use is for finding value in guys who arent used enough/properly. Or devaluing guys for that same reason.

Perfect example is Marchessault. Or even Pominville to an extent.

Say what you want about Murray, but I have such a hard time believing a GM of a major sports team didn't have a plan on how to move forward to present to the owners at the end of the year meeting.

It was Kim who really wanted him gone. I have on on pretty good authority that she hated him and Terry had to tell him to go home at the team Christmas party because he got so drunk.(I think I remember someone posting that here, and I heard it again from someone else recently.)

Now my opinion is that that, combined with the "fact" that he didn't want to fire Bylsma, and they probably weren't a fan of his plan going forward all conspired against him and out the door he went.

The other had a 47 point season

The underlying numbers (some of them) suggest Reinhart is closer to Draisaitl than the basic points show. Which IMO means Reinhart is probably capable of more, not Draisaitl should have had less.

I do think Reinhart will start to rack up some more points with a healthy Eichel going forward.
