I would like to see how he plays in a new system under Housley. If, and this is a big if, he can stay healthy and contribute in a new up tempo pace he may prove to be worth keeping or at least increase his trade value. At this point his value is about as low as it can go.

I think thats too much for him too, but yea. I guess my worry with giving a young guy that kind of money is if he does not do keep up with the off ice stuff as much.

I think I would be a 5 year max on almost any player. Everyone is always trying to lock a guy up for so long and not many work out as well as say Crosby's deal. See Overchkin (crazy long deal), but not many 8 year deals are worth it for the last couple years.

I brought this up in one of the older blogs but neither forward moves the needle enough especially factoring in context. Granted draiasaitl showed it for a bit in mcjesus absence, I still think it's kinda high
