Matthews is the real deal and they added Marleau and Moore (who while not the same caliber as the others mentioned, is an improvement on Boyle). It's particularly poopty, being a Habs fan in Toronto, and having to deal with Leafs fans' smug bullpoop every damn year. With their success last season, it'll be worse come October.

B-b-but injuries!

People keep saying this but it was the first season for most of the rookies and they tore it up. Even if they have a couple injuries they have so much depth it's not even funny. Unless Kadri, Matthews, Marner and Nylander all get hurt at the same time I don't see how it matters.

How good they think Matthews is

Better [than Sundin]. Sundin was a franchise C but he was never top 5/10 in the league. Matthews has a legit chance of being that for the next 10+ years

More Habs fans:

It's actually not unlikely at all. They have a really good team with tons of high performance young depth. Anyone who denies this is being delusional. They have a top 9 of Marleau-Matthews-Nylander Van Riemsdyk-Bozak-Marner Hyman-Kadri-Brown That's insane. 4 of those guys are 30+ goal scorers and Marner and Nylander are likely 55-60 point guys

yeah, I mean I don't know if they'll have a Blackhawks dynasty or anything but they're (frank)ing coming and we arguably have moved laterally at best so far this offseason. I know lots of people think the leafs will take a step back but if I was betting I might take the Leafs to finish higher.

You know the poop is getting real when a Habs fans says this:

If they don't get screwed by contracts and can keep their youngsters, they will be one of the best teams in the NHL for a while. They also need a top level Dman and a hot goaltender in the playoffs.

Yeah but the biggest difference between this present team/management group is that its OK to get excited about the team and believe in them. Too many years of not really being able to buy in and honestly say this team actually has a chance.

No one is saying there a lock - just some good optimism around them and not only from the Leafs fan base. When other teams fans can admit there legit, well frankly its kind of a nice feeling.
