How'd it go?

It went well, no mesh so I'm only on the shelf for 2-3 weeks opposed to 6-8 weeks but man I never realized how it's impossible to do anything without it hurting. You literally use your stomach muscles for almost everything.

Add as much depth as possible. I'm all for it even if they don't step foot in the NHL you're getting a draft pick for free here other than the cost of a contract.
- Stripes77

totally agree. worse case you help Rochester. Not a bad thing at all.

I know he has a NTC, but what would people be willing to give up for Daniel Sedin? I understand he probably wouldn't waive to go anywhere without his brother, but what would be a realistic trade proposal? His points are down, so it's hard to separate the Daniel Sedin name of the past with what kind of player he is now. Bailey + Girgs and a 2nd? Or is a 1st required? Projected roster

Homie, I remember you saying there was a deal in place to move Bogo had we gotten Shatty. Do you believe if we sign Butcher, that may still happen?

I don't think they waive at all.

Plus the Sedins are soon to be 37 years old. You don't move Bailey and a second for someone that has 1 maybe 2 years left

Yeah, i think the only way they would is if you traded for both. They don't want to be separated. That deal would be a monster.

Butcher does not replace him day 1, but I see where you are going. What I see is a larger trade including maybe McCabe +++ for a Duchene type. McCabe has a great contract right now, but I can only imagine he will want $3.5+ mil next contract, if long term, he will want more than that, so maybe you can some value now for him.

A Bogo deal would be a very small return (if any) due to contact situation. So for a pure dump, maybe, but not so sure. (when I say "if any return" I guess I see Bogo+4th for a 5th, something like that)

We are not near the cup, with those 2 you are closer, but for what a year or so? Our GM is building an annual cup contender for years. He is not giving up young players for players that are that close to retirement.

I'm trying to think of a team that would want that deal. Vegas would have been in the best position to do it, but they must have been asking for a 2nd or more. Which other team is willing to take on that contract? Maybe if we retained salary, but that sort of invalidates the whole point of moving him

Yup plus with the cap hits I just don't think it makes sense.

Only if you get a guy like Nash with one year left before Eichel's eventual new deal kicks in.

90% chance he is in the AHL to start the year, the fact that they are saying he is going to take over a week to make a decision...jesus kid,

You have to think of this stuff in terms of the economic concept known as "marginal utility." McCabe's marginal utility for the Sabres is greater than Duchene's marginal utility for the Sabres.

IMO, for this team, with this roster, the difference between McCabe and the next guy up on the depth chart is MUCH GREATER than the difference between Dutch and the player he would replace. Accordingly, we retain greater overall value on the roster by NOT making the trade, if McCabe is truly what it takes to get Dutch.

all is quiet on the bogo front

I know 2 teams would have taken him over the summer on the cheap

1) I'd be shocked if he'd agree to a trade somewhere without his brother
2) We aren't good enough yet to make that deal. He's only got a couple years left, so that's the type of deal we'd make when we are legit contender
3) if the Sedins agreed to be traded, and I think that's a BIG if, you'd gotta imagine it would be to somewhere they think they could win a Cup. We aren't there yet

Montreal seems like a good destination for them
No clue what Vancouver would want... I'd assume picks/prospects

Any idea which 2?
Montreal is still in desperate need of defensemen
No one else really pops out to me
