probably just negotiating through media leaks, but i wouldn't put it past bruins management to trade him.

I wouldn't be too concerned about Pastrnak. Rakell and Lindholm signed after the season started. Lindholm was like 2 weeks after, and Kucherov and Ristolainen signed the day before the season started. And that was all just last year.

If they get to the start of the season and they're still with this "holding pattern" then worry.

The actual price will be high no matter who pays it.
Duchene is probably worth what Sakic settles for.
He's an elite player who's had a hard go of it.
He'll bounce back to form no matter where he plays next year.
Personally, i wouldn't trade him unless i got a better or equivalent return. Different parts of course.
Sakic has learned from past mistakes and hopefully The Don has as well.

You cannot compare the two. Pasta is a restricted free agent and is 21. Backed was an UFA and in his early 30s.
