Pretty early to tell.
They should all play eventually and look good so far, but we probably should have kept the boat.
Just not sure if Dougie wanted to be here.
He seems happy playing on a great team with his poopty brother so im happy for him.

- shoreorrpark

I think the team leaders had something to do with it. Dougie didn't play "Bruins" hockey and likes to keep to himself. Didn't look like he ever felt comfortable in the dressing room.

By all accounts it seems like he has clicked with the guys on our team. Freddie is a good 4th liner/extra forward. If that's the price we have to pay to have a Norris calibre dman then I'll gladly pay it

Weird to see Ovechkin below the top 5 but can't disagree much with the names above him. Marchand had a great season and I get the list is "right now" top players but #3 seems high. Won't argue most of those names above Hall right now but Simmonds? Really?
- freelancer

How many 30 goal seasons has Hall had? I mean isn't he the greatest 30 goal scorer to not score 30 goals?

Arguing too much over these kinds of lists are silly. Outside of the top 2 or 3, which the list got wrong, there are at least 20-30 wingers that could be in the top 10 next year.

Hard to place Gaudreau. It wouldn't really be that big of a shock if he ended the year with the most points for wingers.

He does make things interesting. I'd just hate to see some guy get hurt because of something like a slew-foot. Been on the receiving end of a few of those and they aren't fun

He's a good player, he shouldn't have to resort to doing that poop IMO.

Serious question: How are those picks that you guys got in the Hamilton trade turning out? I haven't really been keeping track, did we miss out on anything special? Too early to say yet?

- Saskabush

I like Senyshen. Was hoping CGY would've gotten him in the 2nd rnd that year. And he seems to be tracking well.

Elite skater with a shoot 1st mentality.
He's a real solid prospect.
I hope it can translate to the Pros.

If the bruins are in fact having trouble signing pastrnak I'd be calling Boston to see if there is a deal there to be made. All is quiet on the Bennett front and tre has a pretty good track record trading with Donny out there.

I don't think we are getting Pasta. A lot more teams with a lot more to give up than us.

Pretty sure Sweeney would be stoned if he gave him up anyways.

Well he was pretty baked a couple years ago at the draft. Roll one up Tre!

NONE of simmonds, oshie, skinner or Atkinson belong ahead of hall .
Had a down year though- so I wouldn't argue anyone else on the list. For now anyway

Pretty sure he got the threat of a offer sheet from Chia, and then gift wrapped DH to Calgary as a big FU.

No other reason for him not to shop DH.

Yeah Edmonton was definitely in on Dougie to some capacity. Heard they even offered a slightly better deal than we did, too, but Sweeney sent him to us just to piss Chia off.

Regardless, we have him now and it looks like he loves it here. I don't know why there's been near-constant trade talk around him over the last couple of years but hey, we're not trading him anytime soon.

Now the Pastrnak rumours are bubbling up from actual journalists.. Ek doesn't count haha

Shame we already gave up our "offer sheet assets". Pastrnak is one hell of a RW.

Hunk, I have to disagree. There have been a couple of those trades in the past few years that give offer sheet equivalent for an RFA that is asking for a big contract. There was one that happened about a year before Dougie that I'm having trouble remembering.. Guess that's todays homework.

I was making a case for giving offer sheet equivalence for Kadri when he was an RFA.. A few weeks later we got Dougie.

I was referring to players getting traded for nothing because of petty feuds between GMs. Hamilton was shopped around and Calgary had the best offer. Just like I can guarantee that Treliving knows right now exactly what he could get if he wanted to trade Bennett. GMs are talking about everyone on their roster with everyone all the time.

Numerous GM's complained about having no clue he was on the market. Calgary paid the equivalent of an offer sheet. Could have gone to Edmonton, but got sent to Calgary.

Not sure why this is rocket surgery for you.

Absolutely BT should be calling Sweeney. RW is our biggest need...after goaltending. What does Boston need ? LW ? It would probably cost Chucky which would be very painful. Or maybe Sweeney would roll the dice on Bennett ?

Or that whole Phil Kessel trade that went down in Toronto. Hmmm....there are so many similarities there, it's almost like the same people were involved

Sure call him, but we've already traded away a significant portion of our assets. Trading away any more prospects/draft picks will start hurting us long term.

If BT traded Tkachuk for Pastrnak I'd be calling for his immediate resignation. He has to be the most "untouchable" forward we have .

Yup! We just don't have a high enough credit card limit for Pastrnak. Maybe, just maybe if Sweeney takes Bennett. Bennett has a pretty high ceiling & is going to come a heck of a lot cheaper than Pastrnak. Bennett may be expendable if Tre feels Backlund will extend & roll the dice with Janko in that #3. How good would Pastrnak look on the RW with Gaudreau & Monahan. Pipe dream mind you. I don't think we get gifted twice by Sweeney.

He'd look great as our no. 1 RW ! THat said, prob a good year to stay away from RFA's. The McDavid contract might change everything for these young guys. He's prob waiting on Draisaitl to see what he gets, which if it's anywhere close to the $10million ask, Pastrnak may want something close to that. I'm just glad Mony and Gaudreau signed last year !

Sam Bennett + Fox I think would start the conversation. I would prefer Kylington but I think fox has way higher value.

No thanks, I'd rather just keep what we have. Bennett is due for a break out year and we'd be trading him when his value is at its lowest.

We should be keeping all of our high end defense prospects. I feel fairly safe saying that at least 1 of those guys (Fox, Rass, Kylington, Valimaki) is going to develop into something pretty good.

If we have holes in our lineup when those guys are ready to contribute we can either trade one of them or trade one of our already established guys and let the young guys take their spot.
