This is what drives me so franking insane about the left (of which I consider myself a card-carrying member):
They don't control all three levels of government, yet they can't seem to drop the smug attitude that they are smarter than the rest of the US, and you have to be stupid to have not voted for them.
I mean, FFS, this should have been the easiest franking Presidential election in the history of democracy for the Democrats to have won. They need to quit harping on what Trump did, and come to the realization that they couldn't win over half the franking country, while running against a fat windbag with no experience who brags about sexually assaulting women.
Seriously, quit going on CNN and shouting at people, calling them stupid for not thinking exactly the way they do.
Start offering solutions to the problems that everyday Americans face - and that includes 45 year old white men in middle America. They deserve representation just as much as any other US citizen.
Oh boy, sorry for the rant. - Atomic Wedgie
No it's OK. I would never vote for Trump. On the other hand I would never vote for Hilary.
My own rant would be along the lines of, how come everybody is complaining about Trump and nobody is doing anything to address how the (frank) this happened in the first place. Out of 300+ million people they came up with Trump and Hilary. THAT was the best they could do? WTF?
I read a pretty scary article the other say saying Trump was going to be re-elected. The argument was fairly compelling.

His presidency is a product of the time. Trump didn't vote himself in, the people did, and it's no coincidence that a reality tv star is now president. That's the medium people worship these days; fast, forgettable drama. Quick hits, then on to the next sh#t storm. - mgriffen
Ronald Reagan was elected the same way, I don't think it's just "these days"
But regardless of who gets in, it's a poop show.
I say "no twitter" for the president of the United States would be a good start, regardless of who it is. |

I agree that the Democrats should have won easily. For me the Campaign was less important than the candidates. The fact that the Republicans and Democrats could not produce a decent candidate from a populution of over 320 million is troublesome, but when you think of the old adage " the cream always rises to the top" - it just doesn't apply to politics. Look at all the (frank)ed up world leaders currently in power. The other risk that the democrats took - was having a woman run for president. It showed to an extent that the US is more sexist than racist, for they could elect an African American President, but could not stomach a woman President.

The whole left vs right dichotomy is tiresome, old and ineffective.
Time for some Realpolitik based on policy case studies and statistics.... though the lobbyists wouldn't make it easy. - TheMussel

You presume Hilary was not elected because she is a woman.
I do not believe that is true. |

They (frank)ed up by running a status quo candidate in H. Clinton, rather than the most popular politician in America, Bernie Sanders. They will win when they have the balls to advance the openly progressive platform of a Sanders and possibly Al Franken ticket.

In a country where universal health care is considered the work of socialist devils, you aren't going to get a lot of good presidential options. |

And I'll just add:
In a country where it is perfectly acceptable to call all politicians corrupt scumbags, you aren't going to get a lot of good presidential options.
