Off topic, I watched a documentary last night pointing at a fire on board the Titanic as a reason the ship sank. How ironic, fire on board & the ship hits a (frank)ing ice berg! E5 - the irony, not the ice berg.

Frankly, I doubt the Leafs will want to be in on Tavares. If Matthews wasn't a thing here in Toronto they would be all over signing JT. Now we have to think about re-signing Matthews, Marner, and Nylander in the next few years and we're likely to want to make a big splash for a top pairing defender at some point (Doughty?).

Tavares would look fantastic in a Leafs uniform but I just don't see how it's economically plausible... unless the Leafs intend on winning games 10-8 every night.

I would not mind being a stick...definitely not a leaf.

Not hating on Isles, but why would he resign? Loyalty? He can get same $$$ on many teams with much better chance to win...not to mention stadium situation sucks, at best. Good on him if loyalty is real determining factor

Just waiting for no deal in place before the start of the season and Tavares' camp says "we won't be negotiating a new contract during the regular season" for all the cliche reasons about "focusing on the team" and "not being a distraction."

Been there, done that, read the book and saw the movie.
