No I just don't think you have much of a foundation to stand on to be chucking insults at our franchise. Shes been a long time coming and an eternity since we've seen greatness don't get me wrong but we are still the more decorated franchise and our future is certainly brighter. I can understand where your jack offedness comes from though, your team has been the butthole of hockey related jokes for the past decade. so sour.

So she is dating a Flames fan.

I would say the sour one is the one sh!tting out the paragraphs of vitrol, and then circled back to post one more upset thought that boiled up.

Depends what you mean by window. They should be a competitive playoff team for the next decade. That's a pretty big window.

If you want them to win a cup, no one's won a cup in the last decade without a legit superstar. If Gaudreau can get back to being a top 10 forward, their window is as long as he's with the team. If he plays like he did last year, there's not much of a window.

Goaltending really isn't an issue. Smith is good enough to win a Cup as was Elliott. There are at least 30 goalies good enough to win a Cup.

You mean a superstar up front ? IMO, Gio is a star although his age says probably not going forward but Hamilton likely is going forward. What we really need is a young goalie to emerge.

You got that right, give the guy a chance to succeed. Bennett needs that chance to thrive with good players.

There's lots of movement in my opinion in the powers of the competition. New teams emerging as contenders as the usual suspects are starting to crack wide open.

3peat? We need to get a 3C that's able to play top 6 before we can start to even consider it. Sammy B would be nice! Having Letang healthy will be another necessity as I doubt we can repeat what just happened.

So YES - (frank) yes!

Hypothetically what would Geno be worth (no bullpoop trash talk - serious trade with no expectation of it ever happening)?

Wow I just that piece from Lambert. What a wast of my time. He shows yet again what an idiot he is. He's nothing but a hack, a Flames troll with a licence to write. The best thing about Lambert is similar to Ek, his predictions and opinions almost always get proven incorrect. I don't disagree with the Smith and Lack acquisitions, they were definitly risks. It be solidified the back end with a very solid D core and despite a tough start to the season, CGY came back with a solid possession game in the back half to earn a PO spot. All our best players are mostly around or under 25 and we still have solid G prospects that will actually likely be the finishing pieces.
I love how he purposefully took a dig (just to remind everyone what a Flames hater and troll he is at Giordano selling him "very old". Really? Putting 'Very' was necessary to add. He's such a clown.
If you read this Lambert, I challenge you to write a similar back article about your beloved Oilers. Wanna talk about a team who's window is gonna slam shut.. can you actually be objective in a similar story? Doubtful.

Let's get a few things correct here. 1st, all you 'decorations came before our franchise even existed. Yep you guys are legendary 2nd, you've got to be kidding me. Are you really this dumb? No team in sports history was the butt of more jokes than Leafs in the last 50 years except for maybe the Oilers over the last decade. But your futility in being an impactful team is what is truly legendary and dwarfs even the Oilers issues.

Hah yeah he's reaching in all directions. The fact that Todd is writing opinions on other articles.. First he jacks Haynes' "where in the line up does Brouwer belong?" piece that came out a week before, then we get an opinion piece on a professional Flames troll's work later in the week..

Sucks that there were a few firings at Puck Daddy this year and Lambert survived them. I love the site, but hate that Lambert is the only guy covering Western Canada for them.

As an outsider I think the Flames have a decent team. Some good young talent up front and maybe one of the better D group in the league. I don't like your goalies.

I can see why the article was written but I disagree. Keep your draft picks going forward and you have a solid foundation.

The flames are in a good position. Ask youselves this. When was the last gime smith had a decent to good defence infront of him in arizona? They are lacking some depth up front but we will see in a couple of months. Treveling has done a pretty good job so far. As for that dumb leafs fan, settle down. They are entering yr 3 of rebuild. Do they have elite young forwards? Yes. Do they have good young defensive prospects? Yes. Are they NHL ready? Not yet. Only time will tell with this young leafs team. Just be happy that the possibility of the next 10-15 yrs you will be seeing canadian teams in the finals.

They're entering year three of a rebuild, yet have 4 carryovers from when they actually started rebuilding. Almost all of them taking on major roles this year.

Just admit it. No one is judging. You guys are around year 6 of rebuilding and the only dividing mark is a change of Coaching, Management. You guys have a fun team to watch now! But the team started its transition into this era by drafting Kadri, Reilly, trading for Gardiner, and deciding to overpay(at the time) a bit for Bozak.

On top of that, the previous management group had a massive task of clearing dead weight. Simply denying there was zero clean-up needed and the fresh official rebuild started three years ago ignores the huge mess previous management had to deal with. Not that Burke didn't make a few messes himself in the process.

All that said, to adress to proposed question: Smith last had a consistent Defense in front of him around 2012 when the Coyotes reached the Conference Finals. Injuries, a massive loss of forward depth, and age have been a problem since then.. Smith looked great and stole games last season though!

Eddie's a tremendous character guy. He had Kipper's old goalie coach last couple years, though, who was trying to make him play a style different to what he was doing in Vancouver. I think Marcoux broke him.
- BINGO!

Marcoux used to say that Kipper was such a good goalie he didn't really need to coach him very much and he smelt most of his time with the back ups. None of those back ups turned very good. When Lack was acquired, Treliving made a comment that he thought Lack was playing further from the net than he was used to when he played in Vancouver. He thinks that if the Flames get him playing close to the net again he will be better. This was something that Gulutzan had input a small he was the assistant coach in Vancouver when Lack was there.

I for one enjoy watching all you flames fans pretend your window is open. That poop closed the day you picked up mike smith as your goalie, how many more are you gonna put your hope and faith in. The bottom line is that even when the goalies falter for you guys it all comes from within the team, the forwards the defense, they all simultaneously suck and that's why your window is closed. Leafs will be the far better team for the next decade. Also Treleving is terrible.

Just 5 cups?

- Mq3030

And tell me, how many of those Cups did the Leafs win after the League expanded beyond 6 teams?

Slow down there bud. The Leafs have been irrelevant for 50 years. No doubt they are now trending up but they haven't won crap yet. There's no guarantee the Leafs make the playoffs, either.

Also big LOLS to the guys spouting off about all the a+ this and a+ that. Your defense is good thats it. Johnny hockey is Mitch Marner Lite. Monahan is not really that good. Tkachuk and Bennett will never touch the totals put but by Toronto's rookies. I could go on. A + me arse.
- Mq3030

Hey ass clown - have you watched any games that didn't involve the Leafs in the past 3 years. If you say yes - we know you are not just a troll, you are a lying troll. We really don't care about your inaccurate, off base opinions on any team that is not your center of the universe Leafs. Until this past year, they were a truly bad team for 20 years prior. They have been irrelevant for about 50 years. Can you explain to me why anybody should look at anything you write as worth reading? Please stop wasting our time, we don't care about you or your team. Go write drivel on the Leafs blog.
