Can't wait for the Sabres to trade Eichel because he was "part of the previous regime"

Can we just keep talent here? Please?

- sbroads24

yeah lets keep a wr who takes plays off when the ball is not being thrown and can't/wont stay on the field

This...

I mean none of us know what Watkins and his agent were thinking contract wise, but come on.

Watkins is by far the more talented WR
Darby had a down year but Gaines was even worse.

Football is not my first love like hockey is so I can't speak towards schemes and what not but man it just doesn't feel good right now.

You can go back and forth on this with sammy's health history, but there's no doubt the talent level is worse today than it was yesterday
- jcragcrumple

Matthews has out produced Watkins, so for all talent there is little drop off in production.

Sure and has played in 9 more games.

Obviously health is a big issue here but talent wise there is a BIG drop off

He's been here 3 years.

A year and a half of it he was a legit #1. His rookie year he was excellent, but had Orton and EJ throwing to him, and the second half of 16 he has a top 5 wideout

You're acting like he was a total bust that has been here 5 years.

I get what we are doing, but we just handed the keys to a 37 year old Boldin, and rookie Zay Jones. A year after we complained about having an awful WR corps.

it's a new gm and coach

they don't like watkins and his drama
they don't like darby

they are not tanking, they are putting their stamp on the 2017 bills

and comparing eichel and watkins is a f@cking joke, you should be better than that, unless you have a kale fetish

70 more catches in 9 games...Lots of talented guys at NFL level dont produce, production is important.

Darby was a good player...so if they don't like him, I see that as bad judgement on their side. They might not like Watkins' drama, but we essentially sold low on him after paying a very high price to acquire him. These were very Bills-like decisions. I am actually happy about this trade because I convinced my father not to renew his seasons this year...now I have justification...this is the football version of tanking IMO.

That's a great post !!

Who knows what Sammy's agent was going to even ask for. Just because we paid too much to draft him doesn't mean we have to marry him.

If they were dead set on not bringing back Watkins, I guess this deal is understandable...sort of. I don't know. I'm trying not to be too depressed.
- buffalofan19

yup...plus, didn't Watkins tweak his ankle in training camp?...

dude has trouble staying healthy

The Tim Connolly they paid two first for, in a contract year...and got peanuts in return.

For trading away one of the better up and coming corners for another Tim Connolly.

Yes.

Of those 70 catches he averaged 3.14 yards (he only has 220 more yards than Watkins) and only 2 more TD's...

That's not good production from a WR

Tweaked and returned to practice the next day and then played last night and caught 4 balls for 40 yards in half a quarter

What's the market for a soon to be free agent WR that's made of glass ???

A low end #2 CB and a late 2nd rounder if you think it was a good trade.

And Jordan Matthews will start as well, MY GOD we got back 2 possible starters and 2 very high draft picks for 2 guys that started for us.

For a guy who wants to trade Evander Kane, Watkins is the same scenario..probably were not going to sign and we got something of value for him.

I don't think the roster is any worse today than yesterday

and we added a second and a 3rd round pick and saved money on the cap

Apparently a crappy CB and a 2nd round pick

Would have been better off keeping him IMO

I'm very interested to see what Beane, and McDermott have to say. As of right now I'm not heart broken.

So you guys are talking about last year month by month, and the Leafs threads are examining the blunders of the past 87 years.

I don't know which is worse.

So they are the same as far as production goes, and we get a 2nd as well.
