I agree they are not a good match for a trade. Cheveldayoff is not a good trading partner with any GM. He overvalues his players like no other GM. In addition, Jets need cheap, cheap, cheap, I'm talking Dollarama cheap players that overperform their contracts. Not a cap team - never will be. Laine will jump ship at the first opportunity. So trading for a rental that will want money after this year is just not in the cards.

Really? Hanging your hat on a tournament played last summer? Trouba was awesome last year, take a look at all the numbers. He is already a number one D and becoming one of the best in the NHL. He had a far better season last year than guys like Riely, Eqblad and many others.

Maybe re sign Polak, and then let Rosen/Dermott/Borgman/Liljegren fight for a spot this fall, with Carrick/Marchenko/Marincin as fall backs.
