ehh... I think we are trying to stay away from signing aging stars at the moment. Jagr would be great on the 3rd line but how many games will he actually play, 40-50? |

At this point, unless he's a $$ loony, I'm guessing he would like to play his last game in the Garden - and not in the wilderness... - 21peter
I was a huge Gretzky fan, but if hockeybuzz was around in 1998-99 you would have seen a lot of posts really angry from me how annoyed I was that that season pretty much turned into a Gretzky farewell tour.
I am not interested in a Jagr farewell tour and I am very skeptical he has anything left |

I think you're 100% accurate on this. Jagr farewell tour would be a huge distraction for this young team. |

Bad idea... even if Miller centered 3rd line, I still don't see Jagr in top 9 role. Do you really think he'd agree to be a 4th liner making 1-mil a year? For all your arguments, Vanek would be a better option and I wouldn't sign him either. Obviously Rangers see something in Puempel or they wouldn't have chose to keep him over others. 24 year old former 1st round pick. Give him a chance. Let's see how camp shakes out. Plenty of guys around the league on expiring contracts will be available at end of season |

While I always liked Jagr, Im a no on this.
Think it would probably cost to much and he doesn't fit the system AV has implemented. I also doubt Jagr would be on the 4th line. If we want to pick someone up, I hope its for a role player 4th liner that can possibly move up to the 3rd and its cheap. |

OMG, if Skjei was a Penguin there would be books written about him already |

Top nine in no particular order.
Zuke,Hayes,Zib,Kreider,Nash,Miller,Vesey,Buchnevich,Dijonaise/Andersson
Leaves Grabs and Fast(when he returns) on the the 4th line and either one can easily move up if there is an injury.
Think the teams need is cheap role players right now. Start handing out those mother (frank)ing PTO's. |

That was actually my exact thougth; that he, as #2 in points, would feel that the Garden was the proper place to 'end his career'... And would sign for cheap to do so. |

I think they will be right in the Kerfoot sweeps and he is exactly what they need
perfect guy to step in for 4th line center, IMO |

Bad comparison... Gretzky was already in 3rd year, following 2 90+ point seasons
I don't want Jagr, but if I thought he could match Gretzky " farewell season". 62 points in 70 games? Hell yeah |

the point was, that season became all about Gretzky's farewell and not about the team
ultimately it was a painful second straight non playoff season |

Both Hayes brothers on same team? MSG might turn on its axis - airjan23
Matt would get his wish.
Sam calling the Hayes line:
Kevin to Jimmy back to Hayes over to Hayes back to Kevin, no Jimmy, no, AHHHH!

This could very well be a valid concern.
If we had to pick up an aging vet, I still think Iginla would fit the team better. But, having said that, we don't need to pick up an aging vet!
I think Gort's holds everything until the 15th, then we're in PTO mode. |

We signed Lettieri out of Minnesota already. Had more goals in a better league than Kerfoot. Joined Wolfpack late season, will be in camp competing for spot. |

I have no issue with Jagr on a cheap one-year deal. He still produces, bottom line. Wasn't his point total last season higher than most Rangers? And he was on the Puddy Tats. |

I would definitely not be against Jimmy on the 4th line. He is not a top 9 player though. |

well, Jagr had more points than Vesey and Buchnevich did
but, I'd rather try and get those two in positions to become 50 point players this year |

Agreed on Iggy. I think he would be a good fit, but Gorts is likely going younger. If one of the 3 UFA vets were a center, then sign him cheap, we don't need another winger of advanced age. |

Kovacs, Tambellini, Gropp, Boo, Gettinger, etc.
There are a few young guys they can afford to give a shot for 1 month. Unless you agree to sign Jagr for a 1 month contract I want nothing to do with him. I want Buch to play as many games possible this year, we all know if AV has another option, Buch will not play. - richardson30
I like Gettinger for the 4th line |
