Risk?
A proven stud C.
PJ a 1st pick with cost control. Big strong & young.
Skinner 1 hit away from lala land again.
Two sides to the coin bro but give nothing get nothing. - Nighthawk
Don't NEED the 1C though. Canes are real young. Have lots of time to develop.
And the Skinner thing is horsepoop. Dude's missed 25 games in the last 5 years. 8 in the last 3. |

For starters even entertaining trading LD is crazy tbh
Only reason to trade him is a blockbuster no doubt.
Cup contending trade or don't bother. |

There are now 62 top pair defenders in the league. If he is among those 62 then yes, he is a top pairing defenseman. Is that too simple? Probably, but i don't think anyone could name 62 guys that are better than him. - dr_soiledpants

And that's why I still think the Canes should send him an offer sheet. |

Don't need a 1C? Never heard of a team passing on that opportunity.
As for Skinner he is still one big hit away for concussion issues again.
I doubt u know much about concussions or never had one.
That all said then idk why Francis is in the trade market.
Canes have great assets but not making a move to be a perennial PO team is not good.
Cup contending should be the goal & assets r only so good if too many.
Cannot keep them all as time goes on.

Not happening. |

Draisaitl PJ Fayne 2nd for Hanifin Skinner 1st - Nighthawk
Don't think I'm interested. If we're moving either of Draisaitl or Puljujarvi (let alone both), we need to be getting back assets that actually fill needs for the team or will offer the benefit of control. Skinner is already at 5.75mil, isn't a C and will likely only see a raise once his contract comes up and Hanifin is due a raise this offseason and isn't even a RHD.
If I'm moving Draisaitl, I'd be looking for a young bluechip C (like Dvorak, Point or even Barzal) and a young, offensively-talented RHD (like Fabbro or Pulock)- ideally with some degree of cost certainty. Or a guy like Trouba straight up. Without one of those two things, there's absolutely no reason to move him. |

Canes plan is to continue to build around the D corps and will move Faulk in the next year or two. |

You don't lose anything if the Oilers sign him anyway.
Did Lowe get blackballed? Rutherford? Holmgren? Doesn't happen. |

Yeah, I don't see it as a good fit.
If the price wasn't outrageous, Duchene would be a Cane by now. I think they're just going to bide their time now. |

As I think they should. Even if a couple of them might project better as NHL wingers, all of Staal, Rask, Aho, Lindholm and Teravainen have varying degrees of history at C so I'd think they could manage while focusing more on depth. That's without mentioning your team's C prospect depth,
When the time comes and guys like Fleury and Bean start pushing for time, then they can do as Nashville did and take advantage of the market imbalance when trading Dmen for forwards. |

That's exactly it. Fleury is expected to step in as a bottom pair guy this year, and with Nicolas Roy, Janne Kuokkanen, Julien Gauthier and Martin Necas all in line for forward spots in the near future, there's no ruch to make a deal right now.
I suspect Faulk will be flipped when Bean is ready to step into the lineup, so long as Hanifin and Fleury continue to develop. |
