Yeah, don't ever fool around on hockeydb.com's "draft by year" and "draft by team" section - it will put you in the loony bin.
1988, last pick of first round, Leafs select Steve Bancroft.
Next pick, Quebec takes Adam Foote.
I could do this all franking day. - Atomic Wedgie
I remember the baby Bulls.
Wedgie, this is painful.
Somehow, it is still better than listening to the Fan590 talk about the Blue Jays for 2 hours straight in the morning.

What about Trouba and Lindholm, two defenseman who are superior to Rielly in every way, and by miles? - James_Tanner
Player Pts Games
Rielly 119 312
Lindholm 112 302
Trouba 105 271
Sorry Tanner - check facts before making statements that are basically bovine excrement.
Beside points, Reilly has to this point been on much weaker teams than Anaheim and the Jets. Things do change though. Trouba is huge and can hit, Lindholm is excellent and Rielly can skate circles around either of them. |

What no love for Slavin with the 120th pick in the 4th round? I'd think he compares favorably to any defensemen in that draft, Parayko included. Especially if you consider their draft positions. - Wolfpack5
Slavin was an outstanding pick - no question, don't see enough of Carolina, but could easily add to the list.

Youre going to get him going with advance stats by using just Points as your argument. Lindholm is really making a name for himself and trouba was very good last year. Im not sure how id rank the 3 the leaf fan part of me wants to think Rielly is the best but im not sure thats true. Hopefully he has a huge year, hes due |

Couldn't agree more, in addition, Leafs have picked well since the 2012 draft with the exception of the 2013 draft of Gauthier. Pickings were slim , in hindsight Leafs could have picked up Guentzel who went 77th in the 3rd round.
Rielly, Nylander, Marner and Matthews were all solid picks - Matthews was very good luck which was overdue. I was hoping the Leafs would try to move up to get Liljegren before the 17 draft, but luck keeps smiling down on them. Good times are coming, leaf haters can SMA.

Will be interesting to see who ends up being better between Brannstrom and Liljegrin. But again RHD is a huge get for us if he ends up meeting his potential. |

As usual your point is solid. Just think of the how the advanced stats are affected by playing in front of Bernier as the top goalie for most of his career. Bernier holds the all time record for most goals allowed before the National Anthem was complete. |

The home opener is a big deal for me. I think I've been to the last 20. To quote the old Bauer commercial, "If I gave you a fresh sheet, what would you write?"
I have never been more disappointed and angry than that softie he let in against the Habs a few years ago on the first shot. Just completely sucked the life out of the building...and season.

Wrong Pearson. That was Rob.
On a different note.....Trouba and Lindholm would challenge in the 2012 top 5 draft redo.
And on another note....pairing Zaitsev and Reilly would be a mistake. They sucked together last year, hence the terrible minus 20s they racked up in a month together. Gardiner and Zaitsev though worked well as a pair. - mykokes
Pretty sure any of our 6 D that would have played top pair last year would have had similiar stats the way Bab's deploys them.
edit: maybe not Hunwick and Polak |

Couldn't agree more, and early game deficits on soft goals were a trademark while Bernier was a Leaf. On the plus side, Babcock played him often in 2015-16 which helped Leafs finish last - which resulted in landing Matthews.

I fully expect that he signs with the Canucks... giving them the oldest line in hockey by approximately average 5 years. The sales pitch will be - one last shot at the cup with the Sedins....
"and no - you won't play with anyone else... 'cause I can't think of their names right now"... Benning... "oh ... and will give you 3 years at 6m... to match the contracts I'm lining up with the Twins"....

Actually he said "he was put into the NHL before he should have been", meaning it served no purpose for a poop team like the past Oilers to have him in the NHL. They should've let him develop (put on more weight) for another year OR put a veteran center in front of him to insulate him. |
