You suggested signing Turris and Kane, who are arguably 1st line players. I would call that building through free-agency.
- Reubenkincade

By July 2018 you have drafted in the top 6 for four entry drafts plus one draft getting a steal in BB. Not to mention role players like Guadette, Gadjovich etc. Then all those drafted players could gel into core with young high talent great impact UFA's. More important you cut off the old like the Sedins.

Not to mention trades that bring players like Guddy, Granlund, Goldy and Dahlen to name some and maybe more by this TDL.

That's just rebuilding using all means available. I would emphasize the opportunity for top shelf young UFA's doesn't come often to pass up. Older UFA's don't need unless you are contending and need a missing piece.

I got a ban for questioning someone's medical degree, so there is some truth to this.

I thought Lind looked better than Gadjovich in the Juniors, never even heard of this kid until we drafted him. It's great to have both of them, very different players.

- Crazybagoham

A few ppl brought up Gads name for us to pick pre-draft.
They were on to something ahead of most of us.

this whole Turris/ Tavares talk is ridiculous
- CanuckDon

At least Tavares is a #1C who was 1 point away from an Art Ross. Dreaming of landing a guy like that, I can understand. Turris is, as hillbillydeluxe pointed out, a modern day Brendan Morrison, who will not be worth the money he will command

Some say Nylander drives Matthews and not the other way around.
Others say Matthews was a bust and Laine was the right pick.
It's so hard to say to be fair.

- walshyleafsfan

Nylander on the wing is a good compliment no doubt.
It goes with my idea lines have a dynamic duo & add the complimentary 3rd wheel
Without a 1C then Nylander would be targeted easily.
I liked Laine a ton but passing on a top C is bad mojo lol

how did people come to the idea about this two specific players anyway?
- Codes1087

Upcoming ufa's nothing more.
JT at his probable price is a no brainer IMO
Turris to the right team that not being us i think.

I understand dreaming about landing a guy like Tavares but he would NEVER sign here. Not to mention it doesn't make sense for us as we are too many pieces away from contending so we would be wasting his prime years and paying $12MM when he is on the decline. draft and develop. draft and develop. Most teams set their cap structure to pay their best players the most, outside ELC's I am having a tough time thinking of a team that doesnt pay its best players the most

Not to mention, Turris' birthday is next week. If he was to sign with Vancouver he would be 29 for his first game. Not exactly a young guy to hand a long term deal to

- WhiteLie

With the right mix and timing Canucks best players would be on ELC's with those quality vets pushing the team over the top into contention. Having paved the way to their development. That's a price you can factor in for the rebuild.

Totally agree. The rebuild officially started 6 months ago and people want to accelerate it beginning again July 1, patience is needed

And the sad thing is the rebuild will take about 5 years before we see any real results unless we get lucky and get a Matthews or McDavid to accelerate it. Like Lefty says, we're 3 years away from being 3 years away.

I think we have a better chance of signing Corrado + Jensen + Etem + Prust + Shroeder in the same offseason than we do of signing John Tavares.

not to be picky but that's what ASL says. Hefty says 2 years from being 2 years away.

Really? I'm okay with another 5 years of top 5 picks. How accelerated is that?

Without a solid top 4 D corp like some teams is what holds us back if we got JT. In goal we r in a show me mode. A player like OJ could round out our D & if Guds takes his game to the level JB expected from him thats a huge improvement. Up front we have good pieces for JT. I guess its if JT has 2yrs patience or not.
That all said the timing looks not good for us but i wish otherwise 😂😂

There were several posters that were pretty mad that Henrik was hogging all the PP time this year, not giving the kids a chance. Bringing in vets sounds to me like it would continue to play out the same way

Being put on PP1, it would be pretty safe to assume that you are given more PP minutes, than not only PP2, but the rest of the team.

Tavares is gonna be able to pick his spot (he'll definitely go to FA). Vancouver or Toronto, it shall not be

"hogged" isnt the correct work as it was coaching decision, but Henrik lead the team in PP icetime per game and it frustrated those that wanted to see Bo get more opportunity. Cant imagine many coaches will let kids have an opportunity ahead of Turris, Kane, etc. particularly as they will be in their prime years

If I am Tavares, and I actually make it to free agency, there is no way I sign with Vancouver lol.
