Owning a Stanley Cop winning team makes me think he doesn't give a (frank).

He almost has as many Cups as Kevin Lowe now

Some writers calling for a huge decline from Washington, not sure I agree with that, although I think you'll see a "slight" decline. Still very strong up the middle with Backstrom and Kuznetsov, and then there's that Ovechkin guy and Holtby in net.
- LeftCoaster

I think the Rangers and Chicago are the ones who will decline

I didn't say that. Quinton Hughes at 5'8" doesn't make me jump for joy. Jack on the other hands looks good. A forward who is already 2 inches taller.
- manvanfan

Okay you didn't like Quinton and said Jack was better but that didn't sound like you were high on him. Classic was talking next Mcdavid, are you now impressed to say that?

Orr only played nine (full) years in the league and he won eight Norris Trophies, Jesus, plus he won the Hart twice and the Conn Smythe twice....the guy was incredible.

Tow Art Ross Trophies and a Calder can be thrown in there as well

- LeftCoaster

Winning the Art Ross twice as a defenseman is an incredible feat.

True. Its one of those debates that define us as Canadians.

Do most Canadians turn to other Mods when everyone disagrees with their point of view ?

Bobby Orr also only won 2 cups and is also arguably the greatest player to ever play the game.
- Reubenkincade

He was a game changer in what he did. Crosby epitomizes elite talent with extreme work ethic but don't see anything revolutionary in his game like Orr.

Keep reading. It's not like he was sh!t disturbing and making up lies to fuel some agenda.

Thanks Carol.

Looking forward to seeing Virtanen crush the pass admirer Nylander. . His physicality will be appreciated this season.

Yes I know.....he needs to earn it.

Just reading about Crosby turning 30 and his place in history, it's hard to believe he has more Stanley Cups than Mario Lemieux considering how good those early 90's Penguins teams were and the fact that Mario was arguably the greatest player to ever play the game.
- LeftCoaster

Mario was his own worst enemy though. He had "LeBron" type input into the Penguins back then, who the coach was what style they were to play, etc... even trades (Sergie Zubov for Kevin Hatcher)

After they won their second cup, rumours of a rift with Scotty Bowman led to him leaving as well as a very "Country Club" atmosphere around the Pens

I think had they played a more disciplined "Detroit Style" game with a focus on defense, given the sheer amount of talent those teams had, Lemieux would have won more cups

- phyllee

Yes I think they will too, still good teams though. Chicago's played a lot of hockey in the past five years. Pittsburgh's also played a ton of hockey over the past five seasons, and they continue to succeed, although they still have good depth, something Chicago is losing.

Tops in the league over the past five years are, common theme is the Hawks, Pens and Rangers have played a lot of hockey over the past five years.:

Carl Hagelin 95 games - Rangers for 3 years & Pens for 2 years.
Brian Boyle 84 games - Tampa 2 years & Rangers 2 years.
Johnny Oduya 82 games - four years with Hawks.
Malkin 81 games - Pens.
Crosby 80 games - Pens.
Derick Brassard 78 games - Rangers & Sens.
Sharp 78 games - four years with Hawks.
Kunitz 77 games - Pens.
Kane 76 games - Hawks.
Toews 76 games - Hawks.
Hjalmarsson - 76 games - Hawks.
Kruger 76 games - Hawks.
Hossa 75 games - Hawks.
Keith 74 games - Hawks.
Seabrook 73 games - Hawks.
Crawford 73 games - Hawks.
Lundqvist/Nash/Stepan/McDonagh 73-73-72-71 games - Rangers.

Dude, I live in Vancouver

It is possible to follow more than 1 team in the NHL. I probably see more Canucks games and news than I ever do Penguins stuff

try not to take things like your local hockey team so seriously

- PensWin87

if indeed you live in vancouver then you very well know we take our team seriously

I agree👍

I'd like to see Crosby survive in those days.
Orr didn't have the benefit of MRI & arthroscopic surgery either.
As far as i'm concerned Orr is the greatest ever.
No other player can compare in every category.

Bring it on....
Welcome anyone to debate all that Orr brought to the game.
When a D dominates and has every tool nobody can touch that.
Also bs about eras gets no credence at all

he's actually second only to Gretzky in PPG career. If he wouldn't have come back playing at half his actual talent level he would've been the only player in NHL history above 2 in terms of PPG.

Lemieux > Gretzky.....put that in your pipe and smoke it bloated

The original indeed

Nobody ever in NHL history had EVERY tool like Orr had.
For a D to make everyone better says it all.
Say no more.....

Debatable....Gordie Howe before him was almost as dominant, between 1950 and 1959 he won the Hart and Art Ross Trophies five times each.

I challenge anyone to name anything Orr didn't do well.
Gretzky Lemieux or anyone else had holes.
ORR had none & played in EVERY situation & was great at it.
