I'd put Couturier around the net on the PP.

I'd keep Couturier away from the PP

This may seem like blasphemy to some and of course it is entirely dependent on how the defensive prospects pan out but I can see Gostisbehere the player that is traded in the future. I fully believe that Provorov is capable of playing the point of the PP and so should Sanheim. If Sanheim due to physical ability becomes more a well rounded defenseman who also puts up a lot of points along with Provorov, Myers, Morin, and Haag then I could see the Flyers trading Gostisbehere in the future.
- MJL

I could certainly see this happening.

This is the thing. people want more offense from him but now they don't want him on the PP.

I think he needs to be on the PP to get the most out of his game. What's he likely to get on the 2nd PP. Maybe an extra 35-40 seconds?

Me too. And I am already preparing myself for the "him don't have enough points" whiners.
- MBFlyerfan

Yeah I agree...so many people want him to hit some magical point total so they think he is good, but it doesn't use his skillset the best. Play him to his strengths (along with everyone else on the team)

Exactly. If he can put up 15 goals and 35-40 points without pp time, while being their #1 forward on the PK and shutting down the opposition's top C at ES then what's not to like? Plus he seems to consistently make his linemates better ES too.

I do too.

But his ES points have always been there. And that really where I want to see some improvement.

When it comes to prospects panning out, who knows. But so far, for most of these kids, their progression has been very good to excellent and most scouts expect the following to all be successful NHL players:
Patrick
Lindblom
Sanheim
Morin
Hagg
Myers
Rubtsov

Heck back in 83, guys like Ron Sutter, Tocchet, Zezel, Mellanby, Derrick Smith, Eklund, Hextall, and Murray Craven(though he was still Vancouver property) were all prospects. I'm sure a lot of fans didn't think that they would all be NHL players. Guess they were wrong.

The thing is the cliché of the odds of them all working out is a reasonable statement. However we have a lot more information now and we can actually look at their progression as players. Right now there is no reason to think that Sanheim, Myers, Morin and Haag aren't going to make good Pros. Still not a guarantee but they're certainly on that career course.

It's takes more then one player to make a PP work.

With the added depth and talent you can put out guys like patrick, konecny, Weal on the 2nd unit instead of read, raffl or macdonald.

In my opinion we don't truly know that. For one the Flyers have never had a really good 2nd unit. Secondly I don't think he is a fit for playing the half wall and being a PP puck distributor. He's hesitant and in that perspective not good at it. He may be good in a different role. Let him bang and hang around the net and battle for pucks and rebounds, tips etc. I think he can be good in that role.

He certainly is not good at the assigned role he's had for the last couple of seasons. I would like to try him at the high slot before we completely say that.

That being said, if he comes off the PP I'm not losing sleep over it.
