Prospects don't just fail because there are supposed to be a certain amount that fail. Pretty much all of them have shown success at multiple levels of play and are continuing the trend that they started on shortly after being drafted/signed by the Flyers.
None of it guarantees success, it is just using a little intuition and certainly hoping for the best. - YuenglingJagr
Carolina has a top 4 built on Faulk, Pesce, Slavin, Hanifin and then have Hayden Fleury coming and Jake Bean. All drafted by Carolina. And i am sure Carolina is hoping they all fill the top 6 at some point.
So why can't i have the same hope for our prospects. |

I really don't like a 2nd unit with one Dman, they can caught, especially in the 2nd period, stuck on the ice in a 5 on 5 situation and that can quickly get ugly. I don't think that Sanheim will be up at the start of the season, so I would try:
. - BiggE
I dont mind that second unit since Coots is on there and while not a dman he is responsible enough to compensate for that in most scenarios.

To have your top 5 or 6 guys pan out and play in the nhl is a long shot imo. It is rare I would think without actually looking it up. Just a guess. I also hope they do. |

Not a huge fan of Coots in that point/Dman role on the pp. His lack of foot speed, especially first step quickness could end up with him trailing a lot of shorthanded breakaways. Honestly, I expect Couturier to be playing heavy minutes at ES and leading the team's forwards in SH minutes too. I'd be fine with him not being on the pp at all.

I understand the concern on orange colored glasses but people here seem pretty resolved to the fact that we look like we have the right group for slotting. They all can completely all "hit" as long as people don't female dog if one they are on third pair. - juiced
I don't disagree though, excluding the rushkie, at least one has to hit his ceiling. if others are scattered out in the lineup so be it. |

This may seem like blasphemy to some and of course it is entirely dependent on how the defensive prospects pan out but I can see Gostisbehere the player that is traded in the future. I fully believe that Provorov is capable of playing the point of the PP and so should Sanheim. If Sanheim due to physical ability becomes more a well rounded defenseman who also puts up a lot of points along with Provorov, Myers, Morin, and Haag then I could see the Flyers trading Gostisbehere in the future. |

Me too. And I am already preparing myself for the "him don't have enough points" whiners. |

When it comes to prospects panning out, who knows. But so far, for most of these kids, their progression has been very good to excellent and most scouts expect the following to all be successful NHL players:
Patrick
Lindblom
Sanheim
Morin
Hagg
Myers
Rubtsov
Heck back in 83, guys like Ron Sutter, Tocchet, Zezel, Mellanby, Derrick Smith, Eklund, Hextall, and Murray Craven(though he was still Vancouver property) were all prospects. I'm sure a lot of fans didn't think that they would all be NHL players. Guess they were wrong.

Also they may move one to address another need. Wouldn't shock me if any are moved except the rushkie. |

Yep. His contract is built to trade should the others pan out as hoped. |

I agree totally. Also after the big names you have a lesser known guy like Friedman who might not be as dynamic but also is an offensive dman who brings a little grit to his game. |

Ducks, Blues....I understand the odds but there is no guarantee a player "fails" just because others didn't. The depth of the Flyers prospect pool has some built in contingency as well |

If I had to put him somewhere on the pp, that is where I'd put him. However I can see him playing upwards of 18 minutes per game without pp time which is why I'd rather see if someone else can fill that role as well or better.
