Thank God, Jan, that the Rangers owners aren't the Wilpons Their allowing of Daniel Murphy, after delaying in making him his initial qualifying offer, to simply walk away free to sign with Washington, will be remembered as their own similar "Midnight Massacre" like (Tom Seaver late 1970's trade) turning point of their ownership. - RangerSaver
They lowballed Murphy. But he should have accepted the QO of $17 million as he actually cost himself money by taking 3/37 from Washington. He would have made a bundle this past offseason.
Pat Zachry, Doug Flynn, Steve Henderson and Dan Norman for Tom Seaver on June 15, 1977 thanks to Richard Young and M Donald Grant. The Midnight Massacre and I am still angry about it. |

I know. There are some peculiar viewpoints over there.
And honestly, while I love McD and have a VERY short list of guys I'd trade him for, I can't say I agree with the people who have ranked him as high as #3 Dman in the East. |

Oh yes, he most certainly is. But, I would not rank him above Karlsson, or Hedman. And after that is does get kind of muddy. I don't know, as I think about it more, maybe there is a case for Mac at #3. I don't see enough of guys like Ekblad, Weber, Werenski or Slavin to say definitively. And between his injuries and my hatred for him, I won't put Letang ahead of him.
Maybe I spoke too soon... |

I really disagree with you on Weber. He was effective for about 1/3 of that series last spring against NYR. him being the big hulking guy with the cannon of a shot makes him stick out more than he should imo |

I don't know. I'd say the only thing he's not excellent at is skating and his awareness and positioning often make up for that. |

He did not look great as a D man in this year PO but he will contribute with some points. |
