Hell, I can only pray for NHL players to go to the Olympics and maybe Avs players will leave the team to participate for a few weeks so I have some chance of routing on my favorite players with a chance to win something. As an Avs fan I am already looking forward to the 2027-2028 season when we might be relevant again.
I also apologize to the Edmonton Oilers fans for ever making fun of their rebuild as I think ours is going to take at least that long if not longer.

James Tanner logical fallacy extraordinaire, hater of millionaires, likely would hate the poor if he had money. Stop worrying about my president and instead focus on all the issues up in Canada. Like well spending millions of dollars on hockey while your poor neighbors starve. perhaps the six thousand acre farms where the farmers go to the grocery store would be more concerning to your climate change scare. How about truly doing something about all of your perceived injustices instead of whining about them like...I don't know...Alex Ovechkin. Stay out of my country's politics. Worry about your own and stop trashing my president. If he is a douche(and really how would that be different than any other one?), that's my country's business and not yours. I have fought and bled for my country. What have you done for your country besides whine?
Let me put it to you in terms you might possibly understand.
Let's say you owned a widget factory.
Would you shut down your widget production line for 3 weeks to allow your employees to go work for the IOC Widget Company?
Keep in mind your employees wouldn't get paid, you would not be compensated for shutting your line, you run the risk of having your employees hurt, and here's the kicker:
The bastard IOC Widget Company will make astounding amounts of money of the backs of your workers. - Atomic Wedgie
What you failed to mention was that your company already shuts down for something like 10 days, not getting paid, to go play in a horrible All-Star game every year while once every 4 years that company would just have to shut down a couple more days while those employees represent their respected countries and YOUR company on the biggest stage in the World. During the Olympics the players are also representing their teams as just about every time in during the play by play they announce the players team they are from. The NHL might not be getting paid, but it is free publicity at the biggest event on the planet.

I appreciate Ovi's wanting to represent his country. But enough is enough. I don't constantly read about other players and their continuing focus on the Olympics. This Olympics will give many players a chance they never would have had otherwise. That in itself is refreshing and something to cheer for.

Except that no Olympics has ever produced a post-Olympic boost in ratings for the NHL. Not even Salt Lake or Vancouver.
They've crunched the numbers. It doesn't provide them with economic benefits.
Especially when the games are going to be played at a god-awful hour for North American audiences.
There's nothing embarrassing about a man wanting to represent his country on a world stage. There's plenty to find embarrassing about a man wanting to chastise him for it.
That is a pretty angry response to an article about Ovechkin not going to the Olympics.
I highly recommend that until you learn to respect other people's ideas enough that you don't fly into a rage every time you read something that doesn't 100% confirm to your world view, that you refrain from speaking about anyone's maturity level.
Oh, and you're paying not to see ads, if that was a serious inquiry. - James_Tanner
Been tolerating your insecurity about political issues since November 8th, 2016. Like everybody else that doesn’t care about your out bursts have been too. I do respect other people's ideas. After about 10 months of your political opinions it gets intolerable. Talk hockey James and a lot more people might read and respect your ideas and opinions. I also don’t think to many more people really want anymore of your opinion on world views on a website devoted to hockey rumours. You have shared that with the Hockeybuzz world for the last 10 months. Talk hockey hence what this website Hockeybuzz is about.

Whoever made this is a damn genius and spot on. There is a reason why the Caps never won, they built there team around a disconnected controller that connects only for PP one timers.

Every player in the NHL does this from time to time. There's one of the back to back conn Smythe trophy winner too so your argument is invalid.

Actually your argument is very irrelevant. Can you prove to me what I said is not true? Just because it happens from time to time to a trophy winner means absolutely nothing. Until the Caps win with Ovi I am 100% correct.
