Because all 4 of them are much easier to move for help in another position due to the term left on their deal. O'Reilly is much more difficult.

so now ror is a bad contract?

he still generates a decent amount of chances 5 on 5 and does a pretty good job of limiting them in his own end.

Reinhart does too

im not getting into the reinhart thing but holy hell dont put bogo in the same category as those 3. Any team would be happy to have one of those guys. And no team would take the fourth for free

The skunk is everything he was touted to be, he's our hidden gem that everyone overlooks.

Buckle up, we're going to surprise teams.

Not necessarily, but a guy with 5 years (or is it 6) left on his deal might be tougher to move. You wouldn't get the value equal to services rendered. You could for the other four, which, in Bogosian's case, is merely the privilege of getting the salary off your books.

lead the team in scoring two years ago, second last season...was on the top unit of the best pp in the league last year...was on the top pk unit...takes every important face off and is near the top of the league in that category...

so why are we trading him?

can't, he is a bad contract

side note

"Sam Reinhart (Buffalo Sabres)

This one is easy. Reinhart has posted 42 and 47 points in his first two NHL seasons and has averaged 20 goals per season. He’s projected to play on a line with Jack Eichel and Evander Kane and if all three of them can remain healthy, Reinhart is a shoe-in for over 50 points and may eclipse 60. He will soon prove that he was worthy of being selected second overall in 2014."

reinhart had better production last season but, imo, wasn't as good a player as he was as a rookie...

that said, he's not going to blast on the scene in a neon light show of play and/or production...his is a more subtle game and he'll gradually build to his ceiling with a very long plateau on that level...

pominville will be a good mentor for him

again, I never compared reinhart to seguin as a player
never said reinhart would be a number 1 center
never said reinhart was going to be a superstar in the nhl

I did say our trash had as many points in 2 full seasons as seguin, which is correct

- homiedclown

If they have nothing in common then why bring Tyler Seguin up ?

"Many in the national media are quick to point out the successes of Eichel, Kane, and Lehner. Stories frequently feature Ryan O’Reilly and Rasmus Ristolainen. Overlooked in all of it is Buffalo’s most second of fiddles, most Samwise of Ganges, Sam Reinhart.

After finishing third on the team in points last season, Reinhart is on pace to repeat this accomplishment again this year. He’s already surpassed his point total, and if he continues to score as he has, he’ll have his first 50 point season.

Reinhart has scored 17 goals and has 29 assists. His production is more impressive, considering he’s playing three to four minutes fewer than O’Reilly and Eichel per game, and consequently, he’s second on the team in points per 60.

It’s impressive that Reinhart may end the season with more than 50 points, especially considering the struggles Buffalo has had scoring this season. Buffalo averages 2.48 goals per game. When Reinhart is on the ice, he’s definitely boosting the scoring average of the team’s key players. When paired with O’Reilly, the team scores 3.23 goals per 60 minutes. With Eichel, the team is scoring 2.48, and the team scores even better with key defenders. When Reinhart is on the ice with Jake McCabe, Buffalo scores an incredible 3.72 goals per 60.

He’s been one of Buffalo’s most consistent players, both offensively and defensively. His 39 blocks are third among Sabres forwards. Buffalo as a team has allowed 2.79 goals per game. Reinharts presence lowers that average to 2.11 with Lehner as his backstop."

The question was why the other 4 were more of a "whipping boy" than O'Reilly. It's because O'Reilly is stuck here, and there's not much they can do about it if they wanted to. They committed to him. They haven't committed to the others long enough.

i get it...but it's silly to bring a core piece into a conversation about whipping boys and mention not being able to trade him because of his term

Lost faith in the coach (wasn't the only one), immature reaction but the skill is still there.
