big difference between a first rounder like casey and a third rounder like Vesey or fifth-round pick like petersen, especially when a top-10 is involved...

if Mittelstadt develops as he should, there no reason for him to stay in school the full four years which means there shouldn't be any reason to fret over a Vesey/Petersen-type situation

- Michael Pachla

Which is why I called him an upcoming Vanek 2.0 the other day. Except we drafted him a year earlier. He's committed to the same team Vanek played a year for in college and even if he has to spend next season in the AHL, so be it. But if he's going to be a steal, as he's being called, then this is the bare minimum type of production we should expect from him. Maybe not 40 goals a season, but it would have to be 70 points on average per season for him to be such a steal.

Lord knows we need one of these guys to be a hit. Nylander, Middlstadt, Pu, etc... Because Girgensons is NOT our future captain, that's for damn sure.

Well, that's up to the Sabres if they think he's ready next year. All signs point to he should be, but you never know.

needs to be physically ready, and a big-10 school like Minnesota should help in that department

i'm all for seeing where he stands after the wjc and a full year in college...as for Girgensons, how does that relate to anything concerning Mittelstadt?

Mittelstadt makes Girgensons (and Larsson, for that matter) expendable.

Also, just referencing your blog the other day about how he was the only unsigned RFA on the team.

Honestly I can't afford hookers, but if I could I have nothing against them in the abstract.

Everyone knows what the score is.

It really ought to be legal here other than half of Nevada. It's legal in a lot more places than you'd think. It's legal in Turkey for Mohammad's sake.

It's legal in all the blue and green places, sort of legal in the orange places and illegal in all the red.

huh? i was like 99% sure it was illegal in scotland/uk

Good point
Idk if he's 1 & done for sure, like a lot of ppl are saying
But I don't see him staying more than 2 years unless something crazy happens with injuries...
And even then...
it's not his skill holding him back from being "ready"
He's just gotta get stronger

My best guess would be...
1 year at Minnesota
1 year in Rochester
And then he's challenging for a top9 role with us

Jbotts seems like he wants to develop guys,
Not rush them

It's legal, but you can't have "organized prostitution" i.e. brothels and pimping. But it's totally legal to both buy and sell sex, and it's not regulated by the state in the blue places. In the green ones it's both legal and regulated. There are assorted rules in both green and blue. I believe in Switzerland and I think Poland you can't use a hotel/motel room. In Geneva they have like a self serve car wash type place where you pull into a giant stall and the girl comes out to you. It's in an fenced in area that has a lounge and showers for the girls as well as security incase any of the Johns get a little too frisky. I was reading an article about the sexbulance where a guy bought a used ambulance and put a chair and a neoprene knee pad in the back. I think that was in Poland?

In Canada and Ireland, Northern Ireland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden and France it's legal to sell it but illegal to buy it. Which is pretty hilarious if you ask me.

I find the whole thing to be very interesting. It's just sex FFS, but everyone has to make their own rules. I understand there's good reason for some of them when it comes to trafficking, and I'm wholeheartedly behind those, but some seem like they're just for spite. Like not being able to use hotels, or having it be legal to sell, but illegal to buy.

I love me some Vanek but I'm thinking he has another level to reach and that might be Tyler Seguin

Exactly. He reminds me of how Seguin plays, except Middlestadt is far more competitive. He hates losing, hates being second best in the same way Eichel and O'Reilly do. So if his game translates into Seguin's skill level (at the NHL level) and keeps that same competitiveness, we got the best 1-2 combo in the league- well maybe Mcdavid and Draisaitl might have something to say about that.... But if Nylander or Reinhardt reach their full potential, then that's a very scary line, and probably the best line since the French Connection. Either way, it's exciting times in Sabre land!

And don't forget about Guhle and Borgen. Hearing a lot of good things about Borgen, and might be the next Chris Tanev: who is considered by a lot to be one of the best pure shut down dmen that players absolutely hate to play against.

The only thing I'm concerned about is what to do with Kane. We're definitely not going to resign him, but if we trade him, it'll be nearly impossible to get equal value in return. And at this point, it will be hard for fans to stomach trading him for draft picks or prospects. And I doubt a team will make a "hockey trade" where we get a guy in return who can play right away. Plus, if we trade him, we have absolutely nobody who brings to the ice what he does; in fact there aren't many players in the league that do, despite mixed feelings amoungst fans about him. It's just simply hard to replace his grit, physicality, and 5 on 5 scoring. Not to mention his compete level, speed, and deadly shot.... Oh, and penalty killing. Geez I'm so conflicted on what I think JB should do with him, as I'm sure JB is too.

Copied this from Spector's page:

AZCENTRAL.COM: Sarah McLellan examines possible options for the Arizona Coyotes to possibly replace sidelined defenseman Jakob Chychrun if he’s out beyond the start of the upcoming season. They could stand pat, call up a blueliner from the minors, explore free agency or make a trade. Teams with a surplus in defenseman include the Vegas Golden Knights, Buffalo Sabres, Vancouver Canucks, Nashville Predators and Detroit Red Wings.

So, now that we have a 'surplus' of defenseman, how do we work a trade to get Duclair? Would Bogo for Duclair straight up work for both teams? The Coyotes have $20m in space. Maybe a different player that can play LW like Domi or Dvorak? If trading Bogo, maybe we would then have a shot at Will Butcher.

Another place to look would be Detroit. They are over the cap by $3m and have another RFA to sign. There are rumors of the team trading Nyquist. Obviously they can't take salary back so would they deal him for a 2nd or 3rd pick and a mid-level prospect like Malone or Cornell?

Really depends on what happens with Jack and Sam. We have Moulson and Pominville off the cap in 2 years, so that's another 10M that's available. Those spots need to be filled, but if you can plug in cheap young players like Pittsburgh does you can afford another big name player. Especially if you have a player like Mittlestadt playing in the top 6 on a rookie deal and putting up points.

2018-19

Mittlestadt-Eichel-Baptiste
Kane-O'Reilly-Okposo
Nylander-Reinhart-Pominville
Moulson-Girgensons-Fasching

Once Pominville and Moulson fall off there's room. Bogo falls off the next year. That's assuming Jack gets 9 and Sam get 6 and Kane gets 6.5. With all of those the Sabres are 100K above the cap, so if it goes up a bit next year it fits.
