There is absolutely no evidence of this thing. Sorry you guys didn't want to trade Sergechev for Duchene at the deadline, you won't be trading for him now

that ship has sailed. And they don't want prospects and multiple picks. NHL ready D prospect or Young Dman, thats where convos start and end

- DDM-Coga

I agree that these 2 teams don't seem like a good fit anymore.

I'm glad we got Drouin for Sergachev and not Duchene though.... younger, cheaper, signed long term.... might become better.

Duchene's value has never been lower but there's no denying his talent. I think he'll bounce back next season (can't really be worse) and justify why Sakic doesn'T want to trade him for peanuts.

I know you're trying to be clever here but....

Réjean Houle was called Peanut since he was ONE individual not multiple peanutS.

So you made a mistake considering you thought I'd make a mistake. But I didn't.

Brillant!

I think you guys did the right move with Sergechev but I agree, the teams are not a fit anymore. I dont think his value has never been lower, 40 rough games doesnt over shadow his 500+ games of what he has done in this league. I just dont think NHL scouts and GMs do play evals in a vaccum like that

I get why they are getting low offers so im happy they are keeping onto him. I stil think he heads out to Nashville, they taken care of all their business and have the cap space to absorb him straight up.

I love Duchene, great player.

But he's had the bad habit of having a bad season every 3 years for some reason.

It's probably why people talk so highly of Tavares, he's been consistantly great while Duchene has had 3 bad seasons and 6 good ones.

would still be Habs #1C, by a mile and a half.
but yes, Tavares is in another class.

Considering I have absolutely no connection to the guy or what he thinks/wants/cares about.

There is no way to predict this.

Frank Sakic, he as good a Gm as Gretzky was at coaching

you'll be stuck with Duchene for 2 years and this year he will take a good shot at leading the league in -/+ again. I know its not the greatest stats, but being -40 still tells a story...then he going to have a hard time making 50 pts

Good asset management

If we all want to seriously talk hockey here, let's face 2 facts:
Tavares has a contract that expires at the end of next year.
Pacioretty has a contract that ends in 2 years, and is due a huge raise (and is from LI)

SO...

Tavares
For
Pacioretty and a conditional 1st (becomes a 3rd if Tavares doesn't sign)

NYI gets a 30+ hometown boy at a cheap contract for 2 years
MON gets a #1 centre for at least next year

It's win win for both teams.

NYI cuts salary and replaces goal input for cheap, allows youth to develop into their desired roles
Montreal gets that #1 Center to help AG at worst, and at best get a legal 1-2 punch at C. And loses the pillowy soft Patches in the post season.

If this happens I'm buying something stoopid to celebrate...like an 150$ port bottle, frank champain, its for girls !

Well ya..but that not hard to do...i think I could have a shot at this point

On a more serious note. duchene is just not worth the asking price.

I would rather taking a shot at Giroux rather than him at this point

huh? are you talking about the 55 point season when he had to drag Iginlas and Tanguays corpses with him or the 70 point season?

Before this previous one, the last bad season he had was 2011-12

Are you counting 43 points in 47 games in the lock out year of 48 games as a bad season? He was on a 75 full season clip.

so much anger, who hurt you

Also psssst Roy (frank)ed the team over more than Sakic did, at least Sakic is trying to clean up this mess, Roy pouted and went home bc he didnt get his way of more slower big body vets to chip and chase with
