Keep Chucky and Drouin and try them both at the c position.
One of them will get the #1 job c and play like one. - WaterBoy
I like you when you make sense.
Main objective for MB now should be Tyler Myers; Jets have too many D and Morrissey is looking for more ice time. |

If the Canadiens are open to dealing their best prospect in Sergachev for immediate help - Brandon Smillie
Sergachev was traded for Drouin, so they are open to trade their best prospect. |

I wouldn't trade for Duchene or Tavares.
Duchene is a great #2, but Chucky will be a greater #2, younger and more potential.
Tavares may be only 27 but 7 years at 10+ would be a mistake for the Habs. We sell the farm to get him and in 3 years he starts to slow down, by the 4th year he is our #2, by the 6th he is our #3.
Keep Chucky and Danault, try and pry a guy like Granlund from Minny, cost less in return and $$. |

Don't fully agree with this stance. Should Tavares's age be an issue for Montreal to worry about? Your best player is 29, top d-man will be 32 when the season starts, so what is wrong with getting a guy who would become your top forward and be only 27? I'm not sure overpaying Tavares in year 4 or 6 will be a big issue by that point.
Plus at least you can theoretically talk trade with Tavares and definitely can discuss trade about Duchene. Not sure it will be easy to pry a guy just coming into his own for a team that has no reason to consider moving him.
Not that I think Tavares should be on anyone's radar right now. Seems more likely for the Islanders to take every second they can to try and keep Tavares there. They didn't trade for Eberle to go into a rebuild. And Tavares not being signed is only a little surprising. Could easily just be waiting to see how the future of the team looks on the ice and off the ice (with the arena situation).
If Montreal wants to make a big upgrade at center, I'd say Duchene still makes the most sense. He's clearly available for trade. Whether there is a deal that makes sense is up to the GMs to figure out. |

I dont think we could get Tavares but there's a pretty good chance we could get Duchene without sacrificing Galchenyuk. If Colorado is rebuilding, maybe a couple of firsts (2018 and 2020 say, we keep the one of 2019) and McNiven (Sakic seems really high on him) could maybe get the discussions rolling.
Having Duchene could massively change our team outlook.
Either:
Pacioretty - Duchene - Gallagher
Galchenyuk - Danault - Drouin
Or:
Pacioretty - Duchene - Gallagher
Drouin - Galchenyuk - Lehkonen
Would be sweet |

If we all want to seriously talk hockey here, let's face 2 facts:
Tavares has a contract that expires at the end of next year.
Pacioretty has a contract that ends in 2 years, and is due a huge raise (and is from LI)
SO...
Tavares
For
Pacioretty and a conditional 1st (becomes a 3rd if Tavares doesn't sign)
NYI gets a 30+ hometown boy at a cheap contract for 2 years
MON gets a #1 centre for at least next year
It's win win for both teams.
NYI cuts salary and replaces goal input for cheap, allows youth to develop into their desired roles
Montreal gets that #1 Center to help AG at worst, and at best get a legal 1-2 punch at C. And loses the pillowy soft Patches in the post season. |

There is absolutely no evidence of this thing. Sorry you guys didn't want to trade Sergechev for Duchene at the deadline, you won't be trading for him now
that ship has sailed. And they don't want prospects and multiple picks. NHL ready D prospect or Young Dman, thats where convos start and end |

Let's be real...
Sakic has unrealistic demands. He would probably want Weber in the Duchene deal which isn't happening.
Islanders would be foolish to trade JT anywhere in the conference because it can come back to haunt them...he would most likely be moved to the West
JT will not be moved before the deadline. He basically holds a NTC unless he agrees to an extension. No team will sell the farm for a guy in a contract season without guarantees. JT will not allow himself to deplete his future team's talent pool when he can sign next season without costing them anything.
Guys at this level want to win. If he waits until the deadline, he is guaranteed to go to a contender. It's unlikely he leaves the NYI just to go to another non-contender. MTL did not improve this offseason. The NYR improved but have a hole at the very position where JT would fill and he doesn't even have to relocate. Toronto is a team on the rise and with Bozak's contract ending they could upgrade |

It totally depends who the team is whether a top 4 dman, top prospect, and 1st and 2nd round draft choices is too much or not for Duchene.
In the case of the Pens, that could be Maatta, Sprong, late 1st, late 2nd. Yes, please! |

Isles have two elite goaltending prospects so i dont think they would want another one. If they still had sergachev that would make the deal possible - 151509
They could have used Sergachev as a starting piece to get a top Center, but didn't. They could have used Subban to get one but didn't. Montreal basically don't have much other teams would want for a top line Pivot. Poor trading and drafting has hurt the team. |
