trade backs/goalie prospect to Min next year for charlie coyle.

They get someone to replace koivo on the 2nd line. We get a RW with size/hands/RHS. And lets Money/janitor/bennet take the top 3 centre lines (coyle can slide into centre if needed).

I'd give him that. Don't think you can win in this league without two really good centres. The good news is Stajan comes off the books and hopefully Janko can at least take his spot.

cheaper (coyle will be I'm guessing 2mil less then backland, and a few years on contract), allows money to sign versteeg another year. and gets Janitor into the lineup. And gives room to deal with Tchachuk the year after. not much a gamble

Nah, the conversation has to be about an extension. He finished 4th in Selke voting !! We need him on our team.

And I thought the Bennett trade talk was madness. It's insane to trade Backs right now. The guy was arguably our best player last year and just entered his prime. He's one of the best 2-way forwards in the League right now and we've groomed him for far too long to deal him now, especially if Ferland pans out the way we're hoping he does. We're a lot deeper on the right side than it seems we are, with the only real concern being on the top line. I'm not trading away centre depth for a top line RW, especially not if that centre is Mikael Backlund. He's too good for us right now.

He'll use Jordan Staal as a comparable and ask for 7mill x 6. Probably will sign a 6 x 6.

The league is taking notice on Backlund and he will get significant interest as a UFA. He's going to get paid this time around.

As for trading him. Definitely not this year. If Bennett has a breakout year and Janko comes as advertised, then we will probably have to have that conversation.

Also. If we are trading Backlund we sure as fukc better be getting more in return than Charlie Coyle Backlund is hands down the better player of the 2.
