Some of the stories about that whole shoot from If Chins Could Kill make me really appreciate what those guys did to make that movie. Have you ever been to the cabin site (which was turned into a brothel)?
- jmatchett383

No. Always wanted to ever since I moved down here. By the way. My parents back yard was meant as a similarity in atmospheres.

You can recognize that and respect that without claiming he's the best to ever do it. That's like claiming Elvis Presley is the greatest rock musician of all time.

I don't know, some people think Led Zepplin is the greatest band of all time.

As far as being influential and going new places, they're definitely at the top. But other bands have taken what they've done and done more with it. But they're revered because they did it first, and did it well.

Yes, but its not his only movie. He's 60% a sci-fi guy. With a few dabbles in other genres.

I'd like him better if he had another Catch Me if you Can type hit that was more character based.

I love Zepplin but that's my biggest gripe with The Beatles.

Entertainment is subjective. I think Pink Floyd and Pearl Jam are the best ever based on personal preference. But I know they aren't the biggest names ever nor are they the inventors of their styles.

I honestly can't believe that this is the first time you've showed up here since the Reaves trade. It was your moment, man.

I have lived outside Nashville for seven years now. Grew up in Grand Rapids and have lived in TO, MTL, Pitts, CHI, and random other places here and there.

They also are not "CLASSICS". No one 50 years from now is going back to watch the Dark Knight. Dunkirk I have no idea how it will age I haven't seen it yet. I've heard some good things about it.

Never heard of Prestige so certainly its not a classic. I can't even get it to come up in google without adding film after it. So its not standing any time test today.

- sditulli

Well that statement about the Dark Knight is false seeing how people still watch the Michael Keeton Batmans and the Christopher Reeves Supermans and the Dark Knight is a vastly superior movie to those.

And that last one you're either lying or you're misspelling "The Prestiege" because it's literally the first thing that comes up.

Going new places? Most of their songs are rip-offs of other bands / artists.

But, I don't really care about music or movie talk on a hockey forum.

What are the odds that who the Pens get for their 3C is someone that has been mentioned in these forums? I put it at about 50%.

I agree. But again, when you judge them against their contemporaries, they stand out.

If part of a director's job is doing his best with what he has to deliver an entertaining/groundbreaking movie, then I don't think you can fault him for advancements in technology that were not available to him.

The Dark Knight trilogy will go down in history as a shining beacon of graphic novel movies/series. Appreciated perfectly as a whole by the public and will be watchable by our generation for years to come. Younger people will probably view it like we do the Jaws series. Great for what it was when it was. Will hold up as viewed as something great for it's time.

The Dark Knight Rises (frank)ed everything up. I (frank)ing hated that one. Bane sucked. Was so underwhelming and annoying. And there was no way Batman would have survived that Nuke.

Nashville is great in terms of food, booze, music, and recently hockey. Not so great day to day living in basically a suburb. I will never get over the red neck stereotype when 10% of city day drinks, drive $80k raised Silverados, and have confederate and American flags attached to said Silverados.

Agreed. Although the first Iron Man may be better than Batman Begins (which I love), the Nolan trilogy showed the world what you could do with a comic book character. Had it not been for his trilogy (and the X-Men franchise), you wouldn't have the assault of comic book movies we've had recently (and Legion, which is the most fascinating TV show on).

Well, yes, me and the South wouldn't get along in general. But for a 1-week visit, it was really fun. that's the best way to put it, it was just fun.

I'm not knocking these movies because they noticeably depreciated as works of cinema as their special effects became dated, which says to me that a big part of why they are so well regarded was because effects carried them against their contemporary competition.

Again these are not bad movies, like Independence Day or Avatar which will be exposed as bad when their effects are dated. It's just difficult to consider them all time great works of cinema. You can appreciate them for what they were and the works they enspired, but it's not a super hot take to call them overrated

Completely disagree with all you said besides the Nuke. Except that it's a comic movie and super heros survive the stupidest poop. I felt the third entry was more light hearted by design to bring back a sense of head nodding to ominous villian music and wide eyes to intense fight scenes.

Bane may be the best super villian of all time based on his crazy character. Not the best actual bad guy by far, but he ranks up there in terms of hot damn, that guy needs to be taken down.
