Been trying to get a little deeper knowledge about this kid Beaulieau and what he could bring to the table.

So he's a 24 year old kid who has rather stagnated development in the Habs system. Apparently lost confidence after having been touted, at 19 years old, as a very smooth skating offensive PPQB destined for the top 4, and possibly even top pair qualities if he could continue his offensive development and learn the responsibilities on the d-side of the blue line.

Between 19 and 24, he struggled, and has even been a healthy scratch in MTL's last playoff games of 2017.

The potential, and the development arc, are very familiar to me. He sounds just like "Player S."

A .920 save% isn't the same on different teams
Style of play & quality of shots make a big difference
U gotta look at the situation, not just the obvious numbers

Let's just see how Beaulieu plays for us
The facts are that he was thought highly enough to start as the partner of Shea Weber last year, so he obviously has talent
But for whatever reasons...
(and I didn't watch Montreal enough to have an opinion on what they were)
he play took a pretty steady downhill slide last year

Supposedly the kid likes to party a bit too much
Hopefully he can mature, and put his focus on hockey
Getting his head right will likely determine his path for us

I'm not gonna project anything for him at this point though
Just gonna wait & see how he does

To a degree, I get where they're coming from
He wasn't on the level of Lundqvist & the league's very best except for a few years... but he was still a really good player
Consistently a top10 goalie in his prime with us

The hate on him has gone way too far
