It shouldn't concern you. I remember an article that was written a few weeks ago that said the Leafs will save a certain amount of cap space by signing Brown on the first day of the season, after the rosters are set.

The NHL is full of loopholes.. it's impossible for the average fan to understand.

What concerns me tho is that Brown and Hyman have played one year in the league alongside an elite center phenom.. 36 and 28pts isn't all that impressive.. If Soshnikov or Leivo were on his wing I'd expect 40+ from each of them.

Brown did score 20 goals as a rookie, that's not shabby at all. If it wasn't for the Leafs also having three franchise rookies at the same time, we'd all be wearing the Brown pyjamas right now. And the Leafs scored a lot of goals on plays where Hyman didn't get a point on the play, but he should have, you know?

Just Trust In The Shanaplan, and trust in Babshlong's love of Hyman and Brown.

Hyman had an off year with an atrocious shooting percentage of ~6%. If he even had 10%, like he did in 2015, he'd have potted 16 goals.

Kadri was the same way year before last, totally snakebitten, but evolved other facets of his game and took on all the tough matchups.

Hyman will be fine. He's a perfect Komarov replacement long-term.

2.5 isn't a whole lot these days though. I've liked Sosh as well, but he didn't really play his way up the lineup with the ice that he was given. I think even if/when Brown gets more than Hyman, that has a chance to be a steal of a contract. Brown's better than Sosh and the other second tier prospects imo. But it's only the beginning.

Brown is the best of the bunch.

And 2.5 isn't much if you don't have other big contracts.. if he signs a two year deal that's fine, but if it in any ways effects the signing of the big three then it's hard to see the reasoning.. truth is, they're gonna have to trade a lot of these guys.. I'm open to trading any of the young forwards other than the 3..

While Matthews has potential to be a generational talent I, like most hockey fans are positive McDavid has the higher potential ceiling.

While I would love to have another high talent center like JT join the Leafs, please tell me where the cap space will come from. We are not trading Matthews. So which of Nylander or Marner would we trade. As all 3 that are presently on the team are close in age, I personally want to see the 3 of them grow together as the core of forwards for the franchise.

Just remember that we are in the dog days of summer and all the bloggers (including EK) are going to post wild a$$ sh_t to generate hits.
