Hextall has done a nice job building up the prospect pool, probably top 5 in the NHL, as everyone knows they all won't be NHL regulars. The key is to trade some of these younger kids for legit NHL players when they feel they are close to being a contender. Having a lot of chips to play, means a rebuild can be done fairly quickly with some astute trades and free agent signings. The bad news is Hextall hasn't really done well with trades or free agency.

I don't know. They haven't really been players in FA or trades. A lot of what was done in trades was to clear cap space and vets. The Schenn trade can't really be answered until we see what happens with Frost and the next 1st rounder.

In free agency, yeah Weise hasn't been a hit but they haven't done anything that cripples the team either. they really haven't been in position to go after notable free agents.

This year will be the first year where we could see improvement. tehy should have more depth and talent. Maybe they aren't a contender but we should see a step in the right direction with added talent like Lindblom, Patrick, Morin, Hagg and maybe Sanheim or Myers. Also another year of Provorov and Konecny.

I do feel this team will make the playoffs. But I really want to see them start to take a step forward with the new talent.

I honestly dont think he is, If you had put Ryan white with Schenn and Couturier if wouldve put up at least 10 pts more than Weise did, and I dont think last season was an aberration, he shot 8.5% and had 8 goals? Guy is 4th line fodder getting paid 3 mil

I'm sorry, I will stick to more well-known facts:

Jimmy Hoffa is alive and well and has been living a life of luxury in Southeastern Laos.

Jesus Christ never walked on water, but he did invent the moonwalk. Michael Jackson stole both the dance and $22 back in the early 60s.

Atlantis was and still is real. Look on a map, people; it's right there.

Weise only played on a line with Schenn and Couturier after the deadline, and he scored 10 points in those 14 games. Hard to imagine White putting up 20 in 14.

Of course Atlantis is real. They made a (frank)ing movie about it. My gf was Kida and I was Milo for Halloween.

Hands down the most underrated Disney movie

I mean i liked the trade. But from a certain stand point we do have to see how those picks turn out also.

I am curious if we will see him do the same thing with Simmonds. Sell high instead of locking him up to a long term/big money deal at 30.

Just nice to finally see some youth start to get integrated. I know there will be mistakes but i do see them as a playoff team.

They got two first rounders for Schenn. That is the return, and it is pretty solid. It is up to Hextall and the organ-i-zation to make good picks and develop them into good NHL players.

Simmonds will be interesting. I just hope they don't get sucked into term. Money will be somewhat irrelevant depending on how the next two years shake out.

Blues fans hate him, he makes 4 million on the cap, and is a 4th liner. Traded a 25 goal scorer for him! Hextall (frank)s up AGAIN. How does this guy still have a job

They traded a 25 goal score for a 2017 1st rounder and a 2018 first rounder. Lehtera was the price to make money work.

you probably don't get that without taking Lehtera back.

I opined that they be referred to as "Herr's Potato Chips", but word on the street is that they got lazy and just called them "pyramids."

Trade Simmonds now because he will want a raise. WE MUST TRADE OUR BEST PLAYER NOW BECAUSE HE WILL WANT TO BE PAID ACCORDINGLY IN TWO YEARS!!!

Didn't say now.

But we will see what happens. New PP coach. Youth coming that will get minutes. I like Simmonds but maybe he doesn't get the same opportunities like before.

It will be an interesting season this year and next as more youth comes in.

So I watched the first episode of Spartacus: Blood and Sand last night, as I never got around to seeing it before. It was pretty bad. It was trying to be 300 and Game of Thrones and it failed in both. The plot was bland and predictable, and it relied on tons of foul language and sex to move the show along. I didn't care about any of the characters. I gave it an honest 45 minutes and walked away completely unimpressed.
