Having a really fast forward around him is one thing, but if we're going to be activating the defense a lot more we need forwards to cover. Being that he's a center a lot of that responsibility will fall on him. I'm not worried he's going to become obsolete or something like that, but I wonder if he could be hurt production wise because he'll be looking to cover more and attack less. Just a theory, it's probably wrong.

That doesn't really track though, because if we play more up tempo that means more chances, although they were fantastic at chances last year, they just couldn't bury them.

But even if he has to cover more the extra should make up for it, so he really shouldn't lose any chances.

More chances as a team doesn't mean more chances for him though. If our D are more active, they will get more opportunities for sure, but it doesn't necessarily mean he will as well.

Yeah, there will be some rebounds to go around, but I'm just saying that if we have a bunch of very fast, active D...and he's the slowest on the line...he'll end up covering more often than he does now. The covering forward isn't the one benefitting from active D. Being slower than some of our wingers AND a center makes it a tougher circumstance.

the age and games played makes this a non comparable. There really was no contract this year that would change what eichel was going to get. We all figured hed get paid on any sort of long term deal.
