I thought someone might pick up on that.

I guess that's a subject for a future blog. Short version: I think the Canucks' roster is about equal to last year after all the offseason changes + losing Burrows & Hansen. The two wild cards for next season—Travis Green and injuries.

- Carol Schram

Fair enough of course Carol.

I think it's fairly even as well. Looking forward to what Green can bring in terms of energy and effort with the players. Losing Hansen was quite huge as he can contribute over all 4 lines in pretty much any role. Burrows points can be replaced fairly easily but that doesn't make up for the loss of leadership he brought.

If we have 7-8 bad injuries (like we usually do) around Feb it's going to be a real interesting grind for this roster. But I will remain optimistic.

burrows timely clutch goals are impossible to predictably replace as well. Some rare players just have that clutch play

150%. We have a family friend here in Victoria and their two sons have both been drafted by NHL clubs. Nolan De Jong and Brenden De Jong. Nolan was drafted by Minnesota but is attending Michigan. Brenden was drafted by Carolina and is playing for the Portland Winterhawks. From the info that I have gathered, there is no way in hell I would ever let my kid choose the CHL route, billet close to the CHL team that drafted me, ride the bus for 10 hours a day, and not give post secondary education a thought. College route 100%

You do get free schooling for playing in the CHL ...you just have to attend on your own time ...after hockey ...so players who didn't make it but have service time in the chl can still get an education

Except for in net, Miller out is going to be a big change.

He had 9 goals in each of his last two years. Doesn't sound like that will be too hard to fill

You could fill a roster of forwards with Canucks from last year who could not

I don't care about guys like Kerfoot or Butcher . More scrubs. I also don't like players that don't sign with their drafted teams.

I care about our drafted players this year. OJ Demko Pattersson Gadjovich Plamu And I am curious about Goldobin and Dahlen

That is because we should have changed them out 4 years ago but we are a team that likes to hang on to things . Our top line goal production for the last two years has been about 30 goals below the average and we still talk about extending them

I agree on not signing with the team that drafted you.

"Scrubs" however is a bit harsh for a prospect, Justin Schultz took the same path those guys did.

Shultz is an average Dman nothing special. He can thank Sid and Gino for his two rings.

If we signed either of those guys and they turned into starters, it's worth it.

Butcher sounds like he is another Stecher Chatfield type and Kerfoot sounds like he is a Megna comparable.

You can't have a full team roster of those type players. Don't tie up a roster spot and have Boeser or Goldobin play in Utica because of a numbers game.

Not so sure about that.

Miller @ 2.80 GAA with a .914% and Marky @ 2.63 GAA with a .910%

Literally identical numbers. If anything we may see a few less goals go in with Marky playing to his potential. I honestly don't think losing Miller is going to hurt us at all.

Looking forward to seeing what Nilsson can accomplish here with a fresh start also.

I'm intrigued how Gagner fits in with the team, it's been awhile since we had a good finisher like that, a bit of mentorship for BB and Boucher.

For those of you going to watch Young Stars this year the Match Pub at the new casino next to the rink has $4 domestic pints between 4-6 & 10-12 daily, instead of $8

maybe someone can answer this question for me.

Because Boeser came in and played 9 games of his 1st year of ELC, Did he get paid the full 925K or was it a pro-rated price?

He may be turning the corner however. In Letang's absence he really stepped up last year in a prominent role and a lot of that occurred on lines without Sid and Malkin. Plus his PO numbers were quite good. Being buried on the 4th line/press box by Eakins in Edm did not help Schultz' cause at all. Credit where it's due.

Maybe at one time Burrows was clutch but not the past 2-3 seasons. His leadership is what will be missed the most. Hansen on the other hand will be very tough to replace...versatile on all 4 lines in pretty much every way.
