over/under 8?

I'm taking the over

Kuznetsov just got 7.8 and Stamkos got $8.5 a few years ago so I think Tavares comes in above Stamkos but under $10

Aho is a very real player IMO very overlooked, they have some really talented wingers in general.

I could see Carolina making a push for JT. It may be his best option

Really? I think the market(demand) sets it higher 10 mil.

Agreed, they already have great D and some young talent up front, JT could help stabilize and grow the offense a bit with his experience

If I am handicapping a list I still think NYI are the favourites, Carolina, Florida, Toronto and darkhorse Buffalo would be others given consideration

Yeah I thought his name and UFA might put him over $10, but I really think he stays with NYI and gives them a deal

Eichel, Tavares and O'Reilly would be a strong group, but likely wouldnt leave much for wingers.

I figure proximity to home and all his friends he sees at the World Championship every year might get him to sign there

Players do have a lot of loyalty in NHL. Out of all the franchises though, that one is pretty lost.

Joe Thorton 38 y/o signed for 8mil in free agency staying put and giving a home town discount. Being loyal. Whatever you may want to call it. Tavares will ne be less then 11 in free agency. 10 *7 is where the bid will start.

every time they take a few steps forward, they take a few steps back shortly after. I like their D, they have a few good forward prospects coming, need to figure out goaltending. Probably enough to get JT to stay. If they get a new arena deal I think that seals the deal

Butcher sounds like he is another Stecher Chatfield type and Kerfoot sounds like he is a Megna comparable.

You can't have a full team roster of those type players. Don't tie up a roster spot and have Boeser or Goldobin play in Utica because of a numbers game.

Agree. WE need home runs not more fodder.

I think hes overrated by some and underappreciated by others, a really good player regardless but what good would it do the Canucks to sign him? I know some think that we got 6 NHLers from this past draft but I am not confident and think he will drag the team further from good draft positions that are needed to build a strong team
- WhiteLie

he is a good player but not a great player in my opinion. I want nothing to do with him to be honest. And I am certain he wants nothing to do with us.

It is to some here, Tavares is a great talent, only 26 but there are also concerns to be considered, last 3 years his point totals went down, 86 2014-15, 70 2015-16, 66 2016-17. But that could mean nothing at all as Brooks states Snow could have a contributing factor with this.

But are people ready to pay 12-13mil for one player to produce 70-80 points, I'd rather stay the course and finish bottom 2 and draft better players.

- Makita

you are good with this common sense thing

I missed the arguement yesterday on the topic

I think college hockey is the better route ...chl is so watered down with crap

- Redmile247

Do you speak of the those not in high school?
Last time i looked the entry draft is for 18yr olds.

Not sure, something about joining the rush and taking chances, but still making sure they dont get burned. Its a little different when Tanev says he wants to add more offense, because we know he is smart defensively.

I fully acknowledge I am nitpicking, his personality wont let him talk the boring stuff, he's a kid that likes the flashy side of the game. I just hope he isnt being naive about his current situation - MDZ wasnt a depth signing, most of us have him bumping Hutton down the lineup and going coast to coast a few times wont change that

- WhiteLie

The MDZ signing allows a lil more flexibility & options for TG.
Hutton can be bottom pairing for example.

NHL.com's Projected lineup for Canucks this year, 4th line is interesting:

Daniel Sedin -- Henrik Sedin -- Loui Eriksson
Sven Baertschi -- Bo Horvat -- Brock Boeser
Markus Granlund -- Sam Gagner -- Brandon Sutter
Nikolay Goldobin -- Alexander Burmistrov -- Derek Dorsett

Alexander Edler - Troy Stecher
Michael Del Zotto - Christopher Tanev
Ben Hutton - Erik Gudbranson

Jacob Markstrom
Anders Nilsson

I think Sedins will be back next year on a per year contract. we literally have nobody to take the Role next year.
Gagner is not first line Center material. Neither is Bo. Not saying Sedins are but the alternative of having Gagner and Bo as your top 6 C is pretty scary.
Colorado last year had MacKinnon and Duchene as their top 2 and finished with 48 points. By comparison we are slightly better then them in D only. If we lose Sedins then be ready for a 40 point season.

Seems inevitable i agree.
