It oozes something but it isn't quality.

Iggy seems pretty reasonable. You guys won one series against a team that limped into the playoffs and suddenly every hack writer in hockey is riding McDavid's pole every 2nd article. Most of you validate your opinions with that garbage. McDavid has one play of outskating the outside and you expect 15 years of dominance.

You guys can't stand a varying critical opinion, so you trash iggy's character and make assumptions beyond what he actually says until he's cynical about his own fanbase.

Flames fans may be a bunch of bumbling d!ckheads, but we're not cool aid drinking sheep like you guys.

Let me get this straight.... we aren't suppose to be excited about

- Going from 70 to 103 points in the standings.
- Having a goal differential of +35.
- Making the playoffs for the first time in a decade and then knocking off the Sharks and taking the Ducks to 7 games in round two.
- McDavid winning the Heart, Art Ross and Ted Lindsay.
- Draisaitl emerging as a dominant elite forward.

Getting excited about that is drinking the Kool-Aid or in Iggy's words chugging Chia's jizz ?

We've had to listen to that blow hard go on all year on how Chiarelli is a moron and how Mac-T built this team. Some of us looked at last year as being a complete success despite some questionable moves from Chiarelli.

Your envy of the oilers having mcdavid always brightens my day

Barring ill health, mcdavid will continue his dominance for the foreseeable future. Dude just got a hundo, won the art Ross/hart/Lindsay-and is the most talented player I've seen since Mario.
And he's only 20 and a few years off his peak. It's crazy that he's still getting better.

You can attack the fan base, say what you will about the rest of the oilers roster, but you lose any credibility when you mention Connor. Cause he is in fact as good as the hype suggested.

Listing off positives and ignoring the points made by the other party is exactly the cool aid drinking homerism I'm referring to.

How many points were won out of McDavid's one play of outskating the outside? Is that sustainable given it's predictability and frequency? Does that have any correlation to Draisatl leaping upwards in points?

In the playoffs Draisatl looked great. Most of the year though; he wasn't dominant. He kept his stick on the ice, kept up with the rush, stacked up multi-point nights, and now the Oilers are staring down the barrel of a 9.5x8 salary ask.

Great year for you guys. The in-game meta will always keep adapting and Chia is making a small but growing mess of his cap space.

Quality rant fry. That being said I think you need to calm your tits just a wee bit.

Iggy IMO is almost equal parts reasonable and unreasonable. He backs up the majority of his views with valid points and arguments, but he also is crotchety as (frank) in his delivery and deals almost exclusively in absolutes. Such an approach invites criticism, as Iggy well knows.
Also there are hard core homers in every fan base, and this site provides us with endless examples of such. There are also a fair few moderates in each base, including this one and you know it.
And for what its worth, I'll even admit that not ALL of the Flames fanbase are bumbling d!ckheads. In fact most of you do a exemplary job of your d!ckheadedness, so don't sell you and your fellow compatriots short.

It took four years of Ovie being in the league before Kirk Muller suggested and eventually discovered a three man triangle with the fourth player pinned to Ovie was the most effective penalty kill in terms of stopping the Caps.

Truer words have yet been spoken. Watching that goofy looking little (frank)er play in Oiler silks makes all the poop and abuse of the last decade entirely worth it.

If you really think about the psychology around that one...that thought was in your head Lefty, not mine. I'll probably just hang out with the fam in the back yard (but yeah, your dream back yard).

Oh I have poop ton of worries for this season. Top five for me are:

1) How far will Maroon regress? I doubt he'll score at the same rate as last year.
2) How will Strome adjust as an Oiler? Will he produce even half the amount of what we'd expect from Eberle?
3) How badly will Sekera's injury effect his play? Will he be able to perform as years previous?
4) Will Nuge rebound from a poopty year, or is what we saw last year all he has to offer?
5) Will Puljujarvi be able crack the lineup this year, or is the goofy (frank)er bound for the AHL?

That being said I'm not gonna dwell on them. What would be the point?
Also pretty much every other squad in the NHL would love to have the problem of hammering out an extension for a player like Draisaitl. Its a good problem to have and I won't lose any sleep over it.
