He didn't hold out, he made a last minute decision to become cap compliant. It's too bad another idiot GM who really needed a right shot d-man didn't pony up a package to beat Garf Snow. - Reveen.
WAIt a sec..so he wasn't available until the last minute? |

Everyone knew the Bruins needed to make a cap move and Boychuk was the odd man out. It was either him or Seidenberg and there wasn't much of a market for Seidenberg because of a knee injury.
Nick Leddy was a similar situation. |

(frank) that... if anybody says anything positive about Chiarelli "we're chugging jizz" or "fukin sheep".... - Reveen.
Nope.
This is where you and McSavior and a few go full retarded.
I have acknowledged Chias positive. I believe the negative far outweigh the positive. It's you guys that have said anyone that doesn't think Chia has done a great job that anyone else is delusional. Not the other way around. That is where you became jizz chuggers. Because you're nothing but a bunch of yes men that praise everything done until hind sight shows otherwise. Then you flip flop.
That is why you're fukin sheep. |

Johnny Boychuk and Nick Leddy were available and didn't go for high prices - Reveen.
Long long after we had already filled our roster. If we hadn't signed some UFAs and then Leddy and Boychuk didn't come available? What then?

I disagree. I think Chia has mostly done good work that improved the team...I just feel he gets too much credit, it was the long hard road acquiring prospects with high picks and winning the lotto for McDavid that are the main reasons we improved. |

Tough call about Chia given he had so little to do with Talbot and McDavid joining the team. Talbot deserved the Vezina and Connor was league mvp. Who knows how the team looks without either? |

Do you guys enjoy this back-n-forth? Two sides accusing one another of "circle jerking" and "gargling jizz" (among other things) on loop ad infinitum. One side trashes the other for being closed-minded and unwilling to accept opposing points of view while simultaneously disparaging others for their different opinions. The other side responds by doubling down on their overtly combative tone in an effort to seemingly overpower their opposition.
This is how debates are handled by elementary school kids. Neither side is any less or more wrong at this point and- unless you actually enjoy arguing about the same point over and over again until insults start getting slung- then just don't engage.
And to those of you who insist on bringing it up every goddam time: go die. - MaximumBone
Actually this is how every adult debate goes as well. |

The thing is Eberle half assing it will still get you 50+ point if not 60+ when paired with a decent center man. - rathagor
But he disappeared in the playoffs. Too soft for playoff hockey moving on from Ebs was the right move for you guys. |

The bottom line is under his watch we hit the playoffs and went two rounds deep. You can chalk up his good moves vs bad moves all you want but like advanced stats are pretty much irrelevant. |

I'm not sure I would want to be the GM credited with the McDavid acquisition.
As for Talbot, Mac-T may have laid the ground work but Chiarelli made the final call on said deal. He was under no obligation to complete said trade for a largely unproven goaltender. I would say both GM's deserve some credit for that.

Yeah, you certainly NEVER broadly painted anyone who had an opinion different to yours with the same brush of being a moron, mongoloid sheep that was too blinded by a modicum of success to realize your reality where you believe most of his moves have been a negative was the only true path. Not even once.
Whether you intentionally did this or not, you actively and regularly implied that anyone not of your mindset was all those things and more- myself included. Your methods (along with those of rutts, oilhorse and a few non-regular posters) have been a catalyst for morphing these boards into the garbage fire they are now. Complain all you want about their methods but your complaints will fall on deaf ears when you're guilty of the exact same act as the one you're bemoaning. Be better.
I think you people actually enjoy this perpetual back and forth. |

You still think Yak was ruined by Eakins? I think he is uncoachable. Nelson did nothing for him. Derek Roy did most the heavy lifting.
Schultz was ruined by expectations and a poor defence that forced him up the line up. Not sure how Todd Nelson was turning things around for him. - Larsson_fan
100% Eakins ruined Yak... Eakins was by far one of the worst Oiler coaches ever... (frank)ing terrible... Same goes for the signing of Ference but we were desperate AF back then... Here is a solid question-at the time both signed- who would you rather have Ference or Russell?? |

Accidentally reported your post. My bad.
As for the (hopefully open) question, Russell by a miiiiiiile. His contract now is the equivalent of the contract Ference got before coming here. He's a far better skater, similarly sized and their approaches to the game are comparable. Even if it was 30 year old Russell or 30 year old Ference, I'd still pick Russell. |

Yakupov never had the iq for the game.
I don't even understand what 'ruined' means.
Like Eakins messed with his brain and Hitchcock couldn't unscramble it? He forgot what basic positioning was because he was emotionally scarred ?
Or the far more rational possibility. It wasn't one guys fault but the player instead.
You guys speak about experience etc all the time. If one of the most experienced and successful coaches in the game couldn't get through to him, then how are we blaming Eakins for the same?
MIke yeo didn't have ace much use for him either.
Yaks running out of chances...
Also, russel for sure. But neither deserved their contract. And think if we didn't have the added depth now, we'd probably end up regretting russels as much. But this shouldn't somehow make it less egregious of a deal |

Dude. Yak is a poor mans Grigs. He's got pure puck handling skills and speed. But he can't translate. Should've been taken 4th or 5th and kept in the minors for 2-4 years. |
