Nice attempt at covering up your butthurt. Any word on JT's extension or is he gonna Bolt? Toronto? San Jose? Jersey? He would look sick with Hallsy. - Larsson_fan
I'm hoping Jersey. We can trade him straight up for Zajac. |

One of those players is LD...the other signed for UNDER 7 million. Why people think it's automatic LD is worth 7+ and upwards of 8, 9, 10 million is beyond me. - The-O-G
First off, I'm pretty sure no one here at least believes he's worth over 8. However, McDavid's contract has reset the "bar". With Kuzy getting 7.8, it's hard not to justify Draisaitl seeing similar.
As for your comparison, I believe it's pretty invalid at this point. Gaudreau is two years older, a natural winger (yeah, Leon played RW a fair deal), he wasn't coming off a dominant playoff performance and he only signed a 6 year deal. You can be sure that his cap hit would've been higher if he went the full 8 years.
I'm not saying that Gaudreau is an inferior player; just that circumstances surrounding the league are different now than they were when he signed. If it helps, the 8mil number would likely be on an 8 year deal. |

I've gotta admit I'd find it pretty humorous to see Tavares leave the offseason after Eberle got there. However, I think they'll find great chemistry together as their respective approaches to the game are dictated by a similar lack of high end speed. |

In terms of value I think JG and LD are quite comparable, and that Kuz deal is an absolute joke because of his contract situation and ability to bolt to russia. I just think the media and fans in general have overstated his worth. Really....8 million....that's all it takes to get 8 million a year for 8 seasons? I dont think so. I truly hope most GM's aren't just willing to give that out with ease. LD doesn't deserve a shred over 7. |

I swear I have not forsaken you all. I have devoted my summer to creating a temple in Larssons name. My work is not yet complete but the miracles have already begun, with 6 having taken place, in addition to 387 mammograms. As soon Jero agrees to join our ranks we will begin offering prostate exams as well. |

HB77 has embraced the darkness? What finally tipped him over the precipice, the Eberle trade or the Russell extension? |

Well if I'm being honest, neither move thrilled me either. I think they make the Oil harder to play against, but not necessarily better. |

Strome is definitely not a better player than Eberle and Russel is statu quo. I would have liked to see a Hamonic and would have held out on that return for Eberle. |

Don't get me wrong, I'm not "happy" about either, but I recognize the reasoning behind each choice that Chiarelli made.
The way I see it, Chiarelli had three options to cover for the D issue: 1.) resign a familiar player in Russell at a slight overpayment (unfortunately in both dollars and term) in lieu of Sekera's injury, 2.) trade a similar package as what was paid to the Isles in exchange for Hamonic (Eberle CLEARLY wasn't getting it done) or 3.) sign a different and likely lesser Dman (Stone, for example) for a similar degree of overpayment. As we don't know if #3 was an option, I view it as would I rather have Russell @ 4mil for 4 years, the familiarity in D pairings, a 1st and two 2nds or Hamonic @ 3.8 for 3 years?
On Strome, I'll wait and see what he can do under McLellan before really coming to any firm conclusion. Chiarelli would have a better idea of the type of skills a player would need to thrive under McLellan than I would. It seems like they're both saving cap as well as betting on being able to better utilize Strome's abilities. Seems like a reasonable bet to me after Strome's improved play under Weight. |

Watch some of the Strome highlight videos on YouTube. This kid has speed, super slick hands, and a shot comparable to that of Eberle. The biggest difference being,Strome is capable of letting fly a cannon of a one timer.
I feel that Ryan and Dylan play a similar game, which could accelerate the getting to know you process. If Ryan and Connor are able to feed off each other, the way Connor did playing with Dylan, then the Oilers will be money, and there is no ceiling to the amount of points they could produce together.
Strome could find his way onto the power play,in Letestu's spot,if he's able to connect on the one timers from McDavid. This plus his natural skill and toolbox, could allow him to reach 60pts IMO. I would love to see a line of Strome-McDavid-Draisaitl |
