Not sure he Staal will be bought out, but Gorton is slowly making this his team. Though, I'd still prefer Girardi over Staal to still be here.

Ok, so I'm getting confused now. I thought the NMC meant he can't be traded or waived without consent. Doesn't submitting a list mean the no movement clause has ended? Giving a list IS consenting to a trade to one of those teams, no?
If not, giving out these clauses is even dumber than we thought.

a NMC can have a few aspects to it - not all are the same. you can have a NMC that also includes a full NTC or you can have one that simply means the player cant be sent down to the minors. different variations within.

I believe Staal has a NMC that has a full NTC until next year - then it turns into a 15 No trade list but still has the NMC meaning he cant be sent to the minors.

like most of us, I think Holden and his decent cap hit would be fine as a 7th d-man if Staal was gone. One of them has to go though.

I don't think so, just because he thought Clendening and McIlrath weren't good enough doesn't mean he thinks some of these young guys won't be good enough

Almost a 90pt season his 1st year and we traded him 1/2 way into his 2nd. One of the worst trades in Ranger History. Easily top 5.
