At 700k why would it impact anything on the Markov front. We still have 8 mill in cap space.

A little off topic but want to hear some thoughts

Hornqvist, Pouliot, 1st for Bennett! Flames fans hear me out!

Hornqvist
-Flames need a top RW
-Burke and the Flames org seem to love a playing style like Hornqvist as do I.
-I think would be a perfect fit with Johnny and monny on top line and net front on PP
Pouliot
-hasn't lived up to potential but still young and has never really been given a chance
-Flames have 1 of the best d core in the league and I think he would fit perfectly into 6th dman to ease him in
1st
-gets back a 1st from hamonic trade or can be used as trade bait at deadline (pens always seem to use there's late or not to get a piece that helps a lot for playoffs)

Bennett
-You know what Bennett brings so not much to explain here your thoughts are your thoughts. I see him as a skilled offensive player with defensive liabilities with lots of upside but hasn't developed as quickly as hoped. Maybe never fully will who knows?

Summary
-Hornqvist only has a year left but an extension could be talked about before the trade and can be signed before or the minute after the trade. 30 years old but has shown he isn't slowing down and still grinds every shift. I think Hornqvist would bring much more to help the Flames over the next couple seasons then Bennett would as the Flames seem to be in a win now mode. (Smith and hamonic trades) couple players right in there prime for the next 3 or so years. Yes Bennet has upside and that's why I added pouliot and a 1st.
Pens clearly need a 3rd line center and I think Bennett would fill that as well.

Let's hear your thoughts Flames and hockey fans!

not a fan of that move but at low cost if we got injury, i think can't be bad... but it steal games away from Lernout Juulsen Jerabek Morrow Davidson... did MTL have a trade on it's way involving one of the D already signed ?

or maybe MB know that markov will not be back ?

I'm sure a lot of signing and UFA remaining are waiting for sakic to decide where he will trade Duchene to... Let's go JO !

We can have the Matthews vs McDavid chat all we want but the real hockey world has one nagging question on their mind..... Streit vs Oduya.

it's a team who can give a really good d-men in return...i don'T see sakic trading away duchene without receiving a D... only 3 D signed... 4 on roster

he pick up Wilson and Colborne that can play center... Duchene is GONE !

Don't see how this steals games from those guys. The issue we have is someone to play alongside Weber. Streit is old but he is arguably the best option for that right now.

Lernout has no chance to play barring injuries, and Juulsen needs time because his game has too many holes. What it comes down to is who is paired on the 3rd pairing. This is where the only competition is.

With that said, there is definitely a trade because we have Davidson, Schlemko, Benn, Jerebek, Morrow vying for 5,6,7,8

Well if you think about it just a little bit... with Streit on the 23 rosters, every time you got an injury to a D... Streit will play games and no Kids can be call up to play these games, simple as that !

MacKinnon, Jost, Compher, Soderberg still there as Cs

andrei mironov is on the roster, they brought him over from the KHL, hes 22 playing there for a few seasons since he was drafted. Hes not goign to the AHL

They have 5 guys penciled in for their D core. Lindholm and Siemens will be the 6th/7th guys unless they make another move

I think the most appropriate article to write, right about now is how Canucks fans feel that Bo Horvat is better than Leon Draisatl and will have a better career.

ok make sens, don't know much about mironov and Lindholm... i really think that a guy like Franson or Polak can be really a good fit for COL... solidified that PK units guy like Siemens can learn a lot with one of these 2...i don't think they got that bad of a roster seriously.. really good G in Varlamov if he can stay healthy... D units have a lot of ? marks...

my favorite player is Jost, i was cheering for MB to draft that guy at 9th spot...Kid have a great future !

that's true, I just don't see Lernout or Juulsen being remotely ready. Jerebek, Davidson, Morrow can fill the gap but Juulsen needs to play heavy minutes.
I'd rather them play in Laval then sit on the becnh or practice only. Just my 2 cents though.

"Montreal has signed former Islanders and Flyers defenseman Mark Streit to a one-year, $700,000 contract to add some veteran depth to their blueline."

i hate the way you started this article... why not say 17 stanley cup winner and former flyer and islander makes his return to montreal

haha you didnt even mention he was drafted by them originally

Lernout have everything to became a really solid d-men for MTL... guy have size speed...he play really well at the end of the year.. MB even talk about him in a press conference in june... but if our d-pairing stay healthy they will play in Laval.. i think Jerabek have an edge over these two, specially if Markov go away.. 34 points in 59 games in KHL last year... not bad !

Mathews had more points than McDavid in NHL 17 when Ek simulated the season. That's how he gets his predictions you know.

The KHL has been a league to launder money for Putin and his Oligarchs. Why they supported it by going after NHL players.

But if the other leagues in Europe combined their top teams into one European Union league it could squash the KHL. Plus be a good pro feeder league for the NHL. Every capital city in the EU could support one EU wide team.
