Not great but I'll take him on the bottom pairing 12 days out of 10 over Marincin. Did I mention Marincin is horrible and is better suited to be playing in a Kazakhstan D-League? I hate Marincin.

Carrick has this season to prove his mettle with Toronto. I don't think we'll wait around any longer than that.

Between the Leafs' need for quality D pretty much now and what's in the D pipeline, Carrick either steps up and improves 100% or is shipped in a package for a solid D upgrade. He could easily be the "return D" or "replacement D" component going the other way.

At this point, my gut/confidence in Carrick elevating his game and becoming what we're hoping and need him to be is less than 50%. He has some potential, but I think a lot needs to go in his favour to reach that here.

Personally, I don't believe he's a part of the long term plans and big picture with the Leafs.
