With all the defensive prospects at least we won't be reduced to watching MacDonald on the top pairing this year.

Seriously doubt it. We are riding that contract out to its conclusion or a last season buyout.

I don't think they could trade him this season. At the same time, I don't see what a 39-year-old "offensive" defenseman with no foot speed, recent injury history, and a sharp decline in his overall offensive game has to do with that.

That's an idea a network exec probably throws out on the daily and gets paid handsomely for.

I was always wondering why he was "2thePoint." Seeing as Streit played the point, shouldn't it have been "StreitAtThePoint" or "StreitFromThePoint?"

Surprise surprise based on my username, but Gilmour is my favorite guitarist. There are certainly some players with more chops than Gilmour, but his mix of technical ability and the emotion that comes through his playing makes him my fav.

I don't know much about Guthrie Govan, but his work on Steven Wilson's album, Hand Cannot Erase, was absolutely sick.

Sidenote: I don't know why anyone is surprised by Waters. His lyrics have been political since well before I was born. I find it funny when people sing along with artists on subjects they disagree on, but then are suddenly appalled when they find out the artist actually believes the message they are conveying in the art they create.

Next summer the Flyers will have $10m in space with a full roster so a buyout of anyone would be pointless. They would easily be able to bury him in the AHL if they didn't want him on the Flyers.

Yeah I think he could
- YuenglingJagr

Kris Russell got 4 x $4m, so it should be possible with retention.

I think its reasonable. Look at Pittsburgh 6....when the eventual Matta/Letang injury comes they would be the ideal type candidate for someone like him at the deadline. Then after their playoff run, they could bury him in the minors going forward.

I think a team like Arizona with lots of cap space is a much more likely destination than a cap team like the Pens.

A MacDonald buyout in 2019 seems almost as inevitable as the Umberger buyout. Both are two years long and cost around $3.1m total against the cap.

BUYOUT CAP HIT
19-20 $1,166,667
20-21 $1,916,667
