I'd like to see a Network sitcom today like All in the Family. I wonder why we don't. Surely it's not because anyone is worried about offending some steaming pile of poop.
- PLindbergh31

Doubt you'll ever see something cutting edge like that on network TV again. All the really good stuff is on HBO, Showtime, AMC, Netflix, Amazon, etc...

I think both are on 1 year deals. If they are not moving up, they are moving out. Not sure how big a market Hexy will find for a goalie that HE doesn't think is good enough.
- jaws1955

Hextall has shown he's happy to keep prospects until there's a danger of losing them for nothing. Which is why Cousins was traded right before the expansion draft. Lyon and Stolarz are on 1 year deals, buy Lyon has 2 years left of waiver exemption.

He's also shown he's happy to keep former prospects like Mark Alt around on two-way deals to provide depth for the Phantoms.

What does a minor league goalie bring. I seriously don't know what that market is now. There are lots young guys breaking into the league. It's hard to say who the next really good one will be. Also have a lot of guys getting starting gigs after being back ups for years. it's the hardest position to predict for sure.

I don't expect much in return or just possibly an add in on a deal just saying I think it is likely one is moved at some point is all.

Clapton is an absolutely amazing blues guitarist, but he rarely branches out from that. The others, IMO, were able to incorporate more types of styles in their playing. RE Rhoades, go back and listen. He was simply amazing, you can hear his classical training in his playing and he could shred with the best of them. True story: he hated playing the old Sabbath songs because he found them simplistic and too boring to play.

Someone (GIG, maybe) stated that his music teacher said something along the lines of playing metal is too easy. I don't play guitar, so that may be true. But to play it and play it well are different things. Also, just because someone plays guitar in a metal band doesn't mean they can't play something else, it just means that's what they choose to play.

Hell, there's some absolutely amazing guitar (maybe not on the Hendrix/Clapton levels) players in punk/hardcore bands, but they'll never get any recognition.

Nah, it's not close. EVH is the much better technical player. Very few guys are on his level. A few that are/were would be:

Jimi Hendrix
Jeff Beck
Alex Lifeson
Steve Howe
Randy Rhoads
Robert Fripp
Joe Satriani
Yngwie Malmsteen
Joe Bonnamassa

There are probably a few others, but those were off the top of my head.

All good additions and yes, Blow by Blow and Wired are 2 of my favorite records of all time.

Jimmy Page called Jeff Beck the best player he's ever seen, that's good enough for me.

B&B wasn't on one of the "major" networks. The Simpson were, though they haven't been for a while. But that was a long time ago. I really can't think of a sitcom that is cutting edge in the least that has debuted on ABC, NBC, CBS or FOX in the last 15 or so years.

then can request a trade or not sign their qualifier next summer; assuming the flyers will qualify them.

Like Leier did this year with all that leverage. Wonder why Hexy hasn't moved him yet.

In reply to jmatchett, I feel Jagr's issue with finding a team is related to whatever demands he's making. If he was willing to take whatever role was offered, along with a pay cut from prior years, he could easily find work.

In regards to Vegas, I agree it would be a good match between his demands for playing time and Vegas needing another name to market. However, he probably wants to go to a team that has the talent to make it to the playoffs. Plus, it just wouldn't look right if one of those guys in the Jagr club had to wear a Vegas sweater.

- EducatedOpinion

His demands were a bit high the summer after playing here. He wanted to PP time and never scored 20. He had to sit before and sometime during games due to a sore groin (Winter Classic).

When I was just getting into real music, around age 12, a friend's older brother lent me BbB. One listen through was all it took.

Heck, you can move into the realm of jazz fusion and take it to whole new level too:

Al Dimeola
John McLaughlin
Larry Carlton
Lee Ritenour

The above and some others are just in a world of their own.

I think whoever has the better AHL season this year will be the NHL backup (Neuvirth moving on via trade) by the beginning of next year.
- jmatchett383

possible though I don't think the flyers are that enamored with either. I can easily see another somewhat stop gap goalie on board next year; assuming they do trade neivirth which I am not so sure is a lock.

True, they were on MTV, but not on HBO/etc. But both shows, when they came out, definitely pushed some boundaries.

I guess maybe Modern Family, simply because of the dynamics (homosexuals, interracial, age gaps, etc.). But that's more or a collection of things that have already been expressed.

when did leier request a trade? any link to that?

The scenario is possible they ask for a trade is it not? also possible they don't sign their qualifier no? has nothing to do with leverage.

Hendrix reportedly thought very highly of Billy Gibbons, who is probably very underrated. As is Terry Kath (Chicago). And keeping with the underrated theme we can probably include Eddie Hazel (Funkadelic).

The GM disagrees.

https://www.broadstreetho...n-elliott-anthony-stolarz

I think Anthony Stolarz has improved every year in the American League [AHL]. If the situation was different here, if we had Marty Brodeur here, that might have been a consideration. But as I mentioned to you guys earlier, with Neuvy’s track record of injuries, we didn’t feel comfortable with bringing Stolie in at this time. I think the guy we all forget about is Alex Lyon, he’s done a pretty good job down there too. So those two guys, they’ll go back down there and battle it out, and we’ll see where it goes, but they’re two very good young goalies, and we’ll see how it goes this year with them and make adjustments as we go along.

Off-topic, but I'm employing your post reading (or post skipping) techniques, and I find myself getting much less infuriated the past few days.
