I get that, but I am guessing that at age 46, teams may be starting to wonder if he could just fall off a cliff.

Im not saying that is what would happen, the guy is a beast, but that could be why teams are holding off.

I'd think it may have more to do with waiting to see how their rosters shake out. History has shown that Jagr is a very low financial risk. I'll venture a guess that if he felt that he couldn't play up to his own standards he'd retire rather than fake it.

Congrats Ustimenko!
Between him, Sandstrom, Hart and even Stolarz and Lyon, it's hard not to think that at least one will turn into a top notch starter.

Also, please note I said Van HALEN. Not that it should make any difference.

Tough one, but here are 10 of my personal faves in no particular order:

Ain't Talkin' Bout Love
Mean Streets
Unchained
Women in Love
Atomic Punk
You Really Got Me (yeah, it's a cover, but it kicks ass!)
Ice Cream Man
Everybody Want's Some
So This Is Love
Running With the Devil

As you can see, I prefer the early days with the original lineup. IMO, everything from Diver Down on was pop crap.

The only thing holding Jagr could be management cutting his playing time/scratching him to keep him from reaching those bonuses.
- jmatchett383

So sign him for his help, then scratch him so he doesnt help?

While we are off topic...I am beginning an open protest of calling obvious nut shots "groin injuries" People dance around it so much, just call it like it is...dude just took one in the stones. It is a part of the body and it isn't being referenced in a sexual way.

For the old people...was this always a thing? I like to imagine the past as a time where people could openly say balls on TV

Depending on how much he's helping, as well as the fortunes of the team, yes.

Completely subjective I know but I thought For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge was a fantastic album.

It was worse, way worse, in the past. Heck, it wasn't til the Brady Bunch around 1970 that they even showed a married couple sleeping in the same bed, and language was censored beyond belief.

It has some good songs absolutely, but to me, once they added Sammy Hagar, they went from being a hard rock band to a pop band, 2 completely different animals. I just like their old, original style the best.

Actually, the change to being more pop really started with Diver Down and completely went over the top with 1984. All I can say is that I still listen to their first four albums, the others, rarely if at all.

Of course, as you said, and always when it comes to music: it is all subjective.

Not gonna argue, but surprised Eruption didn't make it.

Also, as much as I enjoy 1984 (which was the Van Halen I heard most as a kid), I agree that it's a total different sound, and I'll take the earlier stuff every day.

Now...from a talent/technical standpoint alone: EVH or Slash? Is it even close?

Sorry Dude, I'm 62 and it was always "an upper thigh injury" but yeah, "he just got speared in the testicles" would seem to cover it without offending anyone.

What is your timetable for Hart or Sandstrom to be on the Flyers roster?

Do you think either Lyon or Stolarz will be moved by next summer to make room for Hart?

To me, eruption is just a guitar solo, not really a song. Hell, I just think of it as the intro to You Really Got Me.

- jmatchett383

Nah, it's not close. EVH is the much better technical player. Very few guys are on his level. A few that are/were would be:

Jimi Hendrix
Jeff Beck
Alex Lifeson
Steve Howe
Randy Rhoads
Robert Fripp
Joe Satriani
Yngwie Malmsteen
Joe Bonnamassa

There are probably a few others, but those were off the top of my head.
