Just don't think the Aves wanted any of the Islanders dman. It's also Sakic's priority to make a deal or not. To blame Sakic for Snows inability to get a 2C the team needs is just insane.
He does half assed poop all the time, went and got Vanek and didn't address the D which needed help. Guy sucks, he's incapable of building a winner. It's been 10 years of the same poop and I'm tired of it |

It is snows job but sakic is nuts for what he's asking and he's done it to a few teams, he might be worse than snow |

Disagree..sorry but Hamonic isnt the Dman the Avs want and if the talks from Snow never moved from there, then really Snow wasn't that serious about getting Duchene.
Adding other stuff to Hamonic still doesnt change or make it more enticing to move away from the 25yr or younger LHD man or NHL ready LHD Prospect
Its not a slight about Hamonic, but he really doesnt help the Avs solve their long term needs and fits their timeline |

Oh I def think the CDH contract will be the last thing Snow does to this team this off season. Hopefully he can get a contract done with CDH and they don't need arbitration. Never said anything but this.
I hate Snow and can't wait till he's gone.
But getting to my original point, the Pelech contract isn't a bad one, nor does it cause us cap issues. - nyisles7
It's too long and undeserved just like cizikas and clutterbuck. Combine all 3 contracts and terms and it causes us cap issues that's the way it works. We'll be against the cap with this roster
Again, not losing my mind about it just seems to be another completely unnecessary risky contract just like most Snow contracts. |

I'll never understand why some fans invent excuses to try and understand Snow's moves or lack there of. He's just inept at his job. |

Sakic may be hurting himself right now but in the end none of us really know. For all we know Snow offered him Pelech and clutterbuck for Duchene and his other offers were just as bad. See how it plays out. |

ryan pulock has to pass through waivers to play in the ahl this year, so unless the isles want to lose him, he won't be in the ahl. - Isles_since_6
Snow still planning on using Pulock as a trade piece for Duchene lol

I didn't say they wanted hamonic I'm saying sakic is asking way too much and multiple teams met his request then he upped it. He is insane to do so, I get they didn't want hamonic and I'm ok not moving pulock barzal ect foe duchene |

There is nothing that backs that up, only one is staples with his hamonic story, which Av Beat writers have discredited hearing a different story about the talks.
There is no way of knowing that either way but people are frustrated that Duchene hasnt been traded yet so they just keep on pushing the Sakic doesn't know what hes doing narrative since its the easiest one to try to make sense of the situation.
Im sure the talks have been tough for teams bc Sakic and the Avs have been adamant from Day 1 what they are looking for, but come on what GM is holding strong for 8 months, teams meet it, then he wants more. I dont think thats how Management relations work in the NHL.
I get it, its a stupid and long drawn out situation, but to just blanket Sakic and the Avs with they dont know what they are doing...thats just unfair. I get that people dont think they have done anything but just bc you have never heard of the young players or prospects they are going to insert into the line up this season, doesnt mean they haven't done anything |

I don't think the Duchene situation depicts Sakic not knowing what he's doing but lots of other stuff does.
I say this of course being a fan of a completely incompetent orginization. |

Took David Poile 8 years to get the Preds past the 2nd round. Why? Because only recently he found the greatest active NHL coach. Lavy > Cappy x1000000. Does Snow get the blame for not finding the right staff (probably until now)? Absofreakinglutely. To me, this is it for him. He can make all the crafty and low risk high reward moves he wants. If this staff doesn't workout on their first year, Snow will be gone. - bgainesDM
To even compare David Poile and the Nashville Preditors and their progression to the Stanley Cup Finals this year to Garth Snow and the Islanders roller coaster ride of the past 10 years is insane. Sorry Cappy sucked but there is a guy in charge that would still have him as head coach if it wasn't for L and M pretty much making that firing happen. |

Where are we disagreeing here? Snow absolutely gets the blame for keeping Cappy for over 5 freakin' years just as Poile gets blame for holding onto Trotz. Progression is strengthened when you have proper coaching. Snow has yet to find it unlike Poile. |

I think we have to wait and see what the outcome is on the Duchene situation upstate.
Right now obviously no one is giving Sakic what he wants or he would have pulled the trigger, whether the gM's think what they offered was what he was looking for it wasn't.
Now if the season starts and a couple teams struggle, and they need to add what Duchene can bring that team then Sakic may get his ask. If not then maybe he doesn't, but patients imho may be the best way for him to go versus pulling the trigger on a deal he doesn't want. |

Ignoring the Avs/Isles trade scenarios...I do think Sakic has done very little to get his team out of the basement.

When Sather came to the Rags I believe it took him 6 years to make the PO's, So I guess Garth is as good as him as well? Difference is he eventally built the team he wanted and won a cup. They have also been pretty consistent as far as being in the PO's. Poile retooled the Preds and built the team they are today and have progressed, Can you say the same about Snows Islanders?
Will Snows Islanders make the POs this year, CROSS YOUR FINGERS ! |
