Agreed that the trade doesn't have a clear winner as of now.

I'm sure you know just how important those salary $$ are for the NYR...

Yes, cap was more important to you guy than the Sens when the trade happened but funny enough, the Sens only have 4M left of cap space for a so-called budget team!
...and next year, we have to re-sign Stone, Turris, Ceci, "a goalie, whoever that might be then" and then Karlsson the following year!!

My favorite player to watch in the league

Followed him since his TV-Pucken days.

Hearing New York Rangers first-rounder Filip Chytil most likely to play over here this season – can play either junior (North Bay) or AHL

it's a tough decision, if he goes AHL, the Rangers have control of everything to do with his development

on the other hand, he is still 17 and is just a baby yet

Let the kid light up the OHL for a year, then send him to Hartford.

welp, we can't really comfortably fit Bozak's 4.2 million cap hit, so Stastny's 7 million cap hit should fit a lot better
- jimbro83

if you trade Staal & Day for Stastny u absorb a 2 mill diff in salary's
thats affordable ..
Holden for statstny is harder to fit
it was NOT both for Stastny one or the other & prospects

the only way they are getting rid of Staal right now is a buyout

if they don't do it within the next 48 hours, get ready to see him here at least 1 more year

no way buy out for Staal ..he'd be picked in a heart beat ......
Someone going for sum center help.... next move is right around the corner..
alotof teams are top heavy in wings and need vet D help ?
we will see but having Staal play in a 5-6 slot cant be bad

Still say IF BIg time center is coming back SHEY is the casualty
if Bozak or others(JVR)( can he play center ? )or Stastny
we can deal a Holden and a pkg of top prospects & picks

I M O love Shey but MAcs the man & capt..unless tragedy occurs how can Shey
fulfill his play by being on 2nd pairs as a NYR?

I think he's staying. 8 years of dead cap space on top of Girardi's is rough.

Brady Skjei's cap hit this coming season is 925K and he is projected to be a top 4 defenseman

it literally could be the dumbest time to trade him, smart team's take advantage of a guy's entry level deal when they could be big producers

McDonagh can play 20-25 minutes a night. It'd be nice to have actual good defensemen occupy the other 40 mins of hockey every game i.e. Skjei
