I think Lou had a good record overall with the Devils, and I think he's done well with the Leafs so far. He's one of the better GM's in the league and I'm glad we have him. |

I always like Boyle but he sucked here.
I got the feeling he didn't even want to be a Leaf at all.
Glad he's gone. - underhill14
Meh....I thought he came in and played pretty well. Sure he could have picked up a few points...but that line had some real good games down the stretch and in the playoffs. Doesn't matter he's gone...not everyone wants to play in Canada for different reasons....I'm sure if he wanted to stay TO could have squeezed him in...especially if it was only 2 years. |

Agree. I actually like Moore better though, and for less term, a win for us. |

The Boyle deal was basically, what would you pay to increase your chances at a playoff spot? A 2nd round pick.
Simple as that, and they got in, so it's not a good deal by any stretch, but it did get us in, even if the increase in morale was the biggest factor. |

rating it a D in the blog was a little dramatic.
i agree. when you are a buyer, it sets the tone in dressing room that management believes the team can make the playoffs. i think it was important move for a young team. |

I don't mind Moore...always seemed to play ok against us. Sort of like Clarkson. |

If we win the Wash series it's an A IMO
I give it a B for giving it a good try. |

Overvaluing draft picks again. It's extremely unlikely those 2 picks will ever have the impact that Andersen has.
Top 10 goalie for some kids who may contribute in 5 years. Filled a desperate need and accelerated the rebuild.

I heard Eichel is in the McDavid Matthews conversation. Seems legit. |

If Gauthier ever scored even 10 goals I would be shocked. - AdamFrench
taking a guy with Andreychuk skating ability and injuring his leg is bound to do wonders. I'd be shocked at 10 for a career. |

I am not sure that he will ever fill a meaningful role on the Leafs. A shame, because he has good size. The only plus for Gauthier is the lack of depth at centre in the minors. Adam Brooks looks to be the only other current NHL candidate, I guess there is a reason for them to draft overage players - hoping the learning curve is short.
Question for you - Leafs let Desrocher walk this year, is it possible that he is worse than Marancin and Marchenko? Kid is big, 6'4" and scored 51 points in 65 games with the Frontenacs. I know he scored mostly on the PP, but still?

I think Gauthier will be a great addition as a depth C later this year, and as a 4C next year. I don't think he'll ever be a 3C or better, like some people, but a cheap internal option as a 4C is nothing to sneeze at.

The problem with Gauthier is his skating is suspect. Having a really badly broken leg that need 6 months recovery time does not help. And the Leafs drafted Adam Brooks, who scored 130 points in 66 games with Regina Pats last year, who is a centre with great speed and hands. Kind of fits the team better than Gauthier.
